PROOF! that, in the age of digital piracy, evolution will favor the bands who generate their own creative streams of income.

True, it looks like most of the Federal Food Code is safety-based, not focused on preference-based testing.

I bet this is FDA-dictated, at least in the US.

They (Nestle) knows about it now. I just wrote a fantastic letter to Media Contacts at the corporate site. This whole thread makes me want to run out and try most of these meals, and your enthusiasm is hunger-inducing!

I'm a grown man, a father of two, and I don't feel the least bit gay in commending you on your weight loss and overall improvement. It shows.

Why are humans so bad at childbirth? by ProbablyOnTheToiletin askscience

[–]perfectlysufficient 0 points1 point ago

This begins with anecdotes, but ends with citations.

Both of my children (I am the father) were born via waterbirth and using hypnobirthing. The premise behind the waterbirth is largely analgesic: resting in warm water simply makes the experience more comfortable for mother. Changing positions requires less effort, and buoyancy makes for less skeletal muscular work once gravity is taken out of the equation.

Hypnobirthing deals with the "fear" aspect. It is likely that no other animal understands in advance what to "expect" from childbirth. Humans, on the other hand, have access to a vast amount of knowledge, mostly about the worst-case scenarios. There are numerous instances of women in comas giving birth (examples), indicating that no conscious effort is needed to give birth. In fact, the entire process is largely automatic.

However, the "fear" response appears to hinder natural childbirth. Women with a higher fear rating generally have higher rates of complications, and obstetric management is based largely on antiquated patient management research from the 50's and 60's. The topic of viewing childbirth as a "patient management" scenario is discussed at length here, and the author's review of this topic is based solely on peer-reviewed literature from the obstetric and psychology research community.

Back to the anecdote: by maintaining a heightened sense of relaxation through meditation, my wife was successful at delivering both of our children without medications, external procedures, or distress. You can learn more here, and watch for yourself on Youtube.

I'm just paraphrasing the founder of the sub. I imagine that, in time, it can become what we want it to be.

The point of the subreddit is to give credit to classic lines that, on their own, sound completely epic. Whether they are germane or not is immaterial.

sample: "I will punch a koala in the taint!" - in this example, it doesn't matter whether this was a valid response to the preceding post or not. That's some classic shit right thar.

I was thinking of the redundancy of two vicious killers evolutionarily engineered to fuck their mates, then leave their dead bodies where they lie. Naturally, they would love to compare notes over frappuccino and kombucha.

The physiological response was amazing. Total revulsion, my trachea felt like it was sliding down into my stomach, and for 10 seconds, I was paralyzed. Then I was angry, and scoured the threads to find out if this woman was caught and punished.
