Alright ladies, bequeath unto me your bikini line tricks. by maybethistimeiwinin TwoXChromosomes

I just shave with a razor - with the grain, not against it. If I'm really in a rush I'll go perpendicular to the grain.

You kickbox, so you're already 3 times awesomer than he is. Revel in your badassery.

I'm sure he wasn't the one. All you can do is love the one you're with, and when that's not happening anymore find a new one to be with.

How old are the guys?

I work at a bar, and my job is to basically stand outside and get people to come in by looking available and friendly. I was pretty much told the same thing.

Sounds better to be in the band.

What reason did you give for leaving? Did you ever have to clash with them over the box they put you in?

"Writing from a female point of view seems to be generally regarded as something more like writing from the perspective of a deer: you might get points for novelty, but it'd be impossible to get right, and who really wants to hear a deer narrate a story, anyway?" by enchantxin TwoXChromosomes

[–]pass_over 1 point2 points ago

Not really. We from privileged backgrounds tend to assume that personal liberation is the same - absolutely equivalent to - the widespread political liberation that feminism tries to address. Sometimes the slogan "the personal is political" is stretched to the extreme.

I would say that the main goal of feminism is the one I stated - and yours is a logical conclusion that one would draw after absorbing feminist theory, but it is not feminist theory itself.

Particularly, when I said "different" I was talking about the constructed differences between men and women. Women are taught to hilight their differences with men, because this leads to mystery - and mystery is more attractive and alluring to men. I was not talking about personal differences.

I think the goal of the feminist movement is to eradicate oppression based on gender.

What turns men (and women who are into women) on is a different matter.

edit: I suppose I assumed you only write about people who turn you on.

I'm also a radical free-thinker - beyond gender and class lines. Remember, the internet is what keeps your mind free. Keep thinking and questioning!

Or you're looking for a fun hook-up based on sexual attraction first and foremost.

In case you are looking for inspiration regarding female characters, I am a young woman who just got home from working her bar job and am eating raw pepperoni and biting bites off of a block of pepperjack cheese.

What sort of personal things are flirtatious to share? Passions? Interests? or are you talking about sexual things?

I like that someone had the courage to level with all of her facebook friends about this, though.

How do you raise your self esteem? by worried_needanswersin TwoXChromosomes

[–]pass_over 1 point2 points ago

You're not a kid anymore though. What have you done recently that you've noticed you're good at?

What kind of tasks do you enjoy doing? Do you enjoy doing smooth, repetitive motions? Do you enjoy adding color to things? Do you enjoy braiding?

It doesn't have to have a larger purpose besides making you feel good in the moment. If you're going to change the way you think about yourself you have to start small.

And reading is still fun, it's a great way to stay connected with people and ideas!

It's always been "you are now doing kegels," it was changed to "you are now doing bagels" to be more work-safe and now I guess they've changed it again, to another work-safe alternative.

Feeling caught up?

What are you good at?

On being pretty. by [deleted]in TwoXChromosomes

[–]pass_over 1 point2 points ago

I have experience with this too. On online forums, I never use avatars that include my face - usually because I don't want my opinions to be treated differently once it's known I'm a pretty female. I do not believe that gender should determine role, especially in conversation - but too many people are not of the same mind.

You can be as open-minded and enlightened as you want, the fact remains that some people treat you differently if you are a pretty woman - I'd say nearly everyone. If you are looking to be intellectually challenged on the merit of your arguments, and the eloquence of your writing, it is almost better to not reveal your sex at all - how is that for a shredding of identity?

I also believe that pretty women are somewhat more awkward than our mousy counterparts.... because people will be our friends regardless of our behavior. Sense of humor, motivations, all of that doesn't really matter so much. If you're a pretty girl, sometimes it feels like all it takes to be liked is a smile.
