This is why the Phillies are probably the smartest team. They get it, it's all about the pitching.

Mets Layoff Multiple Staffers by MajorLeaguerin baseball

I agree. Financially I don't see how the Mets can justify giving Reyes what he wants. Especially since the Mets just aren't that good. They need other pieces and will need money to acquire them. Let's not forget that 15% were people who I would guess don't get paid anywhere near what the players make. They and their families depend on those salaries.

Is this what we have to deal with in the off season? When do pitchers and catchers report again?

Santo. No team can have too many guys in the HOF. If they are that good, they should be in.

My Nightmare May Come True: Epstein in Talks with Francona About Possibility of Tito Managing Cubs by librarycynicin baseball

If I were a Cubs fan I would welcome Epstein and Francona. They know what it's like to deal with the pressure of trying to bring a title to a town that hasn't had one in a long time. But I can see a transplanted Sawx fan's perspective.

Posada definitely has the knowledge to be a manager. I don't know about the personality but you won't know until you try.

In a perfect world the Yanks would be able to rid themselves of him. But no one is going to take him. This is the problem we huge contracts. He wil stay in the rotation simply because they don't have anyone else.

At one point do we start to question the judgement of the organization itself. Doesn't make sense.

I don't see the importance of this.

Varitek for sure. I'll go out on a limb and say Posada too.

This really isn't going to do much for the Mets offense. I hope Mets pitching is ready, they are going to het hit.

So? No doubt what Epstein and Francona did in Boston was good. But can Epstein change the Cubs spend for nothing culture? Let's wait and see.
