Vinegar is fine. As soon as you get a rainfall it gets diluted and washes away. If you are thinking of something like salt, yes. That shit will stay there for a long time.

That is bullshit if you have all of those concepts in one class. You cannot possibly learn all of those concepts to an acceptable level without individual classes. I'm hoping you have more advanced courses to cover these in more depth, especially the PDE's.

In my experience synthetic can be great, if you buy good quality stuff. My heli-hansen base layer has been by far the greatest purchase I have made for hiking/snowboarding. I'll use it on my 30 minute walks to school when its -40 and I'll be comfortable with that under regular pants and a winter jacket (maybe a fleece as well if it's really windy and miserable).

You're correct. Wood smoke is actually much worse than properly designed gas burners. Unless you have a really hot fire, wood ends up with a lot of incomplete combustion which is what causes the nasty smoke. Properly designed gas burners like a propane stove are designed to minimize the incomplete combustion and you just end up with carbon dioxide and water.
