Xbox 250GB Hard Drive.... What's the point?

ohnostereo 0 points1 point 3 hours ago[-]

Just read the Walking Dead 75. This series gets more and more disappointing the longer it goes...

It was a joke, Kirkman always said if the show got to 75 issues he'd reveal it was all aliens or something

Who here has pre-purchased Civilization V? Is the edition with Nebuchadnezzar for ten extra bucks worth it?

Per-ordering makes sense for console games, but none whatsoever if a person is buying a PC game on Steam.

I was specifically talking about physical copies from a retailer, as mentioned in the example and the fact I asked on behalf of every retail worker. Yes, I understand that most people will be buying it Civ off of Steam and that it's easier, I was talking about anyone who was going to go on down to a retailer and pick it up.

I think when they say packaged for shipment they mean, labeled and boxed up and literally sitting waiting to be sent. It's only 4 days before the order and with millions to ship out they probably had them boxed up a week ago, meaning they probably couldn't even locate yours right now or at least not easily. I would contact Blizzard and see if they can switch your key or don't open Starcraft and see if you can return it after. Sorry if that's not much help, I've never actually had to deal with anything along those lines.

Tried everything to quiet down my xbox 360, but it still sounds like a jet engine; details inside.

I work at Game Stop, yes I'm sure. All the new consoles have it printed on the plastic.

Why the gaming world went up in arms over Microsoft's $149 Kinect pricing.

I really don't understand what they are thinking.

Everyone wants a piece of the pie. And instead of focusing on quality games, which is the biggest way the Xbox and PS3 can outsell the Wii, traditional management thinks short term money grab. Same as almost all 3D.

Hey reddit, how come houses smell different after coming up from the basement?

ohnostereo 0 points1 point 7 days ago[-]

On a side note, does anyone else love the way basements smell? Probably linked to some pleasant childhood memory I'm forgetting but I always feel good smelling the musty concrete.

Two copies of Civ 4 on Steam... what to do?

ohnostereo 0 points1 point 7 days ago[-]

If steam won't let you return them I'll gladly take a copy off your hands :)

(I find the concept of pre-ordering a little silly in a context where there is no scarcity of physical copies)

I work at GameStop, yeah I know, evil. After Red Dead came out, and we sold out at the midnight opening, and so did every other retailer in town, all we had were people coming in, pissed off when they couldn't play with their virtual cowboy.

I'm not even saying do it at GameStop, but if you're planning on buying a game as soon as it comes out, do every retail worker a favor and just reserve a copy. Guaranteed a copy plus sometimes a good pre order bonus plus save all the other college kids making $8/hr at a shitty retail job the hassle of being yelled at when we in fact, did run out of copies because people don't reserve things "on principle".

Reddit, I need your help in Bushkill, PA for my birthday

ohnostereo 0 points1 point 7 days ago[-]

  1. Check in, by yourself, late at night, the front desk manager at night is usually the most laid back.
  2. When asked for I.D. quickly pat yourself down and face palm because, "I must have left my I.D. at the house."
  3. If night manager is indeed laid back, they will say "Well just tell me your birthday."
  4. Reply with a birthday that makes you over 21.
  5. Enjoy a nice weekend.

Used to always work for me before I was 21, if all else fails offer the guy weed or booze.

Any low end IT stuff - help desk, call center. Hell, my brother-in-law became a network engineer with just certs. All depends on how much, and more importantly, who you know.

Spend more time on reddit. Ask more questions that no one else can answer for you.

My family would order pizza. I would steal this and have a tea party with my fingers. Leave me alone.

ohnostereo 1 point2 points 8 days ago[-]

Just last week I ordered a sheet pizza. Got it home and opened to see that the box and cheese had formed an inseparable bond. It then hit me that I haven't seen one of these for years. Reinforced cardboard my ass. Cut down on cardboard and throw one of these back in. My pizza could've been saved.

How do I take care of kitty? I'm getting a cat for my wife and I've never had one before and am looking for advice.

ohnostereo 0 points1 point 9 days ago[-]

Yes, try to get siblings as well as the cats will get along much better from the start.

Done all I could. Have a job, getting out of the house regularly, and yet I'm still chided over small things by my parents.

but only if you have to

Correct. Should be absolute last resort. You will end up hating each other quickly no matter who it is. This is the rule, there are few exceptions.

It may preserve the tissue, however, frozen zombies = no threat.

ohnostereo 3 points4 points 9 days ago[-]

Cold would be good for stopping any kind of "zombie", actual dead or humans that are still alive but infected. The problem is survival in cold climates.

Shelter, heat, food, clothing would all be absolutely essential, more so than in a temperate place. Another upside would be water is easily accessible.

If you were to get someplace cold with enough supplies to sit out the big first wave, say 2 or 3 months at least, it would be good. After that you might be stuck in a frozen grave though. Long-term survival would be tough.
