Save this picture, save it for 20 years. Open it after you have lived a while and reflect on who you where and who you became. I hope as you age, you'll learn and see the world around you. Experience the lot of it. See the good, fight the bad, and live a good life in between. Then you can look back at a picture like this and understand...
Things can be funny and really really really stupid and hurtful all at the same time...
I fear that is a lesson we no longer teach...
[–]notquark 0 points1 point2 points 13 days ago
I think dressing up like that is intended to be hurtful, you're not going to change that opinion.
We will agree to disagree...
[–]notquark 2 points3 points4 points 13 days ago*
Yes I did, a VERY well off magnet school that is in a VERY nice neighborhood, that gets almost double your state average of funding. Also, you are NOWHERE near 70 free or reduced, NOWHERE. Closer to 40, which is only 10% higher than state average. It is the TOP school in the ATL system. You by NO means are on the bottom end...Also, it is pretty selective to get into there, the application process is quite extensive...
I know schools young man and how to read the data, you should be glad you're in a good one...Take advantage of it and don't waste your time by taking stupid pictures like this...
NOTHING on the internet goes away. For example, I am sure this being emailed to your principal would be bad for you??? From the title he/she doesn't seem very happy with you...The internet is only anonymous when you don't give out so much damn info...
You have a lot of learning and growing up to do...
TIL George W. Bush had solar panels put back on the White House. by baileyayein todayilearned
Both of those articles kind of back my argument BTW.
The first clearly states that they cut the cost of panels, but that it wasn't bad thing because it made things cheaper for the consumer. Unfortunately the only cheap products for the consumer are made in China.
The second article clearly states: "The first bad bet was that refined silicon, the feedstock for the solar panel industry, would stay expensive"
That is exactly were we got undercut by China. They subsidized there industry more by investing in their companies that cut the cost of solar AND silicon in half worldwide, which in turn made the business model of this and MANY other companies insolvent. China beat us plane and simple.
The ONLY part of Solynda that should make you made is the 78 million in loan guarantees that they, the gov, promised to private investors before the tax payers got any money. It was a last ditch effort to save a huge investment, I get why they did it, I just hate that they did do it.
This is a classic case of what's wrong with politics today. It truly is pretty clear cut what happened, but instead of focusing on beating China or saving US companies, we are more worried about pointing figures... :(
No, my argument is I looked it up, like I have said over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...See from this quote from my previous reply in *THE FIRST PARAGRAPH * TO YOU
Also, Some on here mentioned the school districts name and I have this thing called google or something like that...
BUT you're are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to stubborn to realize it and would rather call names than have a constructive debate and admit you're wrong...
[–]notquark 2 points3 points4 points 13 days ago
You said:
out of curiosity, what made you think they were rich?
I said:
Um, for one the row of guitars / instruments behind them.
They are all there in good condition They are NOT locked up THERE ARE A TON OF THEM Also, Some on here mentioned the school districts name and I have this thing called oogle or something like that... **(THIS IS POINT 4 READ HERE)**
First thing you pointed out that I never said to you that I googled there district, look at point 4 please. So there you are wrong...
are you kidding? Utter bullshit.
Then you rambled and said
You know damn well you have no idea how much money these kids have, and you're being just as prejudice as the guys you're criticizing. (see, that kind of thing works both ways)
Then I went on to defend my point of view here:
Haha, you're right, mental lightweight. I sures is glad I can type on these tubes to defend my poor ol' self... Ignore the rest? Already done. It was probably your utter bullshit reply to my comment. The implies what I thought was wrong. I.E. My observations or onions (I think that's how you spell it) were false. Even though, as I said in capital letters several times that they have named the school and the teacher in this thread. I then used that info through this new site I just heard of called goodle or something like that, I do have a hard time remembering things. Then my magic computer box told me the demographics of the school and community. Those said stats point to a VERY wealthy area or a menu for a pizza delivery place, I don't know I am not good with all those big numbers. Then that, combined with the observations in this picture, mainly a bunch of white kids in a wealthy community dressed in Hispanic face led me to think they were over privileged white kids who didn't know what they were doing were racist. It really isn't that much of a leap. You know, based on research and all... Also, are you crazy? It is obvious without looking up the school. Here is your homework for the week. Go to 1 nice school and visit their band room. Then go to a urban school and visit their band room, if they have one. Let me know if you notice any differences. As another side note, Kids around diversity and different culture are less likely to do stuff like this because they understand people are people and NOT STEREOTYPES...

I also said this:
You have no idea what your talking about. You're trying to justify what these kids are doing isn't wrong. You're probably part of the demographic and it probably makes you mad to see people, like you, being called racist for things you probably do as well.
This statement is my opinion based on you calling "utter B.S." and the tone of your writing. I stand by that observation the more and more you type. You're an angry, sad, individual...
So, not only are NOT reading what I wrote you don't even understand what YOU are arguing and calling names. Go away, I am done with you little person...
[–]notquark 3 points4 points5 points 13 days ago
What does your having to be jewish do with anything? If you want to use that context, it would be like a bunch of nazi's dressed up in a stereotypical jewish wardrobe, prancing around in a "sissy" fashion with a can of mustard gas? It wouldn't be much different than this picture sands the guitar for mustard gas. Would you find a picture like that offense? Something mocking the killing of millions of jewish people is funny right? I guess as long as it is funny it's cool.
Also, black face was done because they didn't want to pay black actors, mainly because of something called segregation. If this was a picture from 30 years ago of 3 H.S. school kids in black face I doubt anyone would be rushing so quick to defend them. We would look at the picture and say, wow, we have come a long way. Sad part is we haven't. This is the stupid stuff that holds this country, U.S. back. Kids thinking stuff like this is ok is just a bad precedent.
I am grown, I have a sense of humor, I am just not tolerant of these kinds of matter and neither should you...
Awww, you're getting mad.
Don't worry, I did forget the rest. Though, then I proceeded to explain my point and explaining why I said what I did after YOU called B.S. Damn, that is soooo lame of me.
Prove to me these kids are not rich and privileged if that is your hang up. Other than calling me lame and a "mental lightweight" you have done neither. I have community stats, school test scores, demographic break downs, hell I even found reviews for the teacher. What have you found? What if, gasp, I am right???????????????????????
My grandparents are coming from New Jersey to visit me this summer. Where should I take them for dinner? by rachel1parisin Cleveland
Phenom Phen on W25...
The embodiment of Cleveland dining. It is on the main drag, so you get the O.C. experience, but it's not a main restaurant, which means it is not crazy packed with people looking to get drunk. You can talk, be comfortable, and no one is rushing you out. It is not the "usual" type of cuisine, but close enough to what people are comfortable eating. Plus it is BYOB, I cannot overstate how awesome that is.
Also, I kid you not, there is a baby lebron james that serves you, it is a bitter sweet feeling...
My new costume arrived today!! by Clairdassianin startrek
[–]notquark -9 points-8 points-7 points 13 days ago
Why did this get downvoted? O /r/startrek...
No, I am calling them privileged based on the condition of the school, there clothes, the beautiful instruments in the background, O AND THEY TOLD US WHAT SCHOOL THEY WENT TO...
[–]notquark -4 points-3 points-2 points 13 days ago
Or those kids really are being racist...Why don't we paint there faces black and have talk in over the top way. IT IS THE SAME THING, the worst part is they don't even know it...That is the sad part...
Also, are you serious? Never said schools don't have bands, almost all do. You know how I know, you always hear about bake sales for new uniforms and the deterioration of the arts in the states. You know, it is like on the news and stuff. Do you know where you don't hear about stuff like that? Schools with resources or HIGHER INCOME schools. Also, have you ever been into a lower income school? They don't have to be chained, but they are usually locked up. Only the really really nice ones leave stuff out, because they can afford to...
Well guess what, you're probably a dick to buddy...
[–]notquark -3 points-2 points-1 points 13 days ago
Are you serious? Did we forget what racism really is? Calling a kid rich or privileged is not racist, it doesn't hold them down, it doesn't portray hate. It changes nothing. Privileged means advantage. Have you been to an urban school lately? Probably not, because they don't have these things like resources or supplies, mainly because people keep running away from them because of, wait for it, racism. Instead of using those instruments for learning and crafting music, they use it to take a stupid picture. That's why they are being racist.
I live in the hood in Cleveland, by choice. Are there thugs? Yes, but the majority of them are just trying to make it like you and I. Well probably more like I than you. Point is pictures like this reinforce that it is ok to think of people like that. Subliminal or not. I bet what those kids are doing are one of the first stupid images that come to your mind when someone mentions Hispanic.
This is just modern day black face, nothing more nothing less. If that's your stick, that's your business, but don't be surprised when people call you out on it...
Plus he/she is getting down voted because there reply is dumb...
[–]notquark 4 points5 points6 points 13 days ago
There is nothing wrong with this because it isn't you. This is EXACTLY the same thing as black face, but I guess it is more acceptable because the US hates Hispanic...
Hold that picture for 20 years, open it up, then tell me if it is racist or not...
Sincerely, Someone who is not a dick
They have a full row of expensive instruments behind them, I didn't have access to school supplies like that, did you?
Also, do you know what the word racist means?
Good school supplies = rich school district = rich kids = I am right
[–]notquark -1 points0 points1 point 14 days ago
Wow, a bunch of rich white kids with every advantage in the world using there time to be racists. Way to go...
Go do that in front of a bunch of Hispanics and then I'll give you credit...

Seriously, that statement was my issue with the entire movement.
I am going to go out on a limb here after reading through your previous posts and say that if anyone is the "brain washed moron" it is more likely you. Hating the establishment doesn't make you smart or a revolutionary, it makes you like everyone else. Difference is one side understands that the issue isn't black and white and the other side is upset that they haven't figured that part out yet.
Whether these men were a fringe part or not, they were a part of OC. They were your 1% and now because due diligence wasn't done on OC's part, they will be the undoing. At the end of the day they went a long with a plan to hurt people. There is NO excuse or conspiracy, just stupidity. What if your parents were on that bridge, is it still ok? Are they acceptable collateral damage? Or is it only ok when it's someone else? Sounds like the same logic those corporate bastards use to me.
It was a good idea, but shows how important strong leadership is and what lack of it can do to a movement. Good bye OC, time to go back to the suburbs...

A lot of what we owe are in legacy costs, i.e stuff we will owe While we have have not had a balanced budget in 10 years, it is by no means at the end, yet.
Any educated person knows oil isn't a long term solution. Look at it now, drilling a couple extra holes isn't going to fix energy, it puts it off. This wasn't a new technology and it was researched by 2 admins and it was to ADD additional capacity. It was also the corner stone of why people elected Obama. Alt energy What happened is we got beat, plain and simple. China wanted to corner the market and they did. That is what happened. They ponied up and put A LOT of companies in the us out of business, but you never hear about that. Just left right whining. Both parties are the problem. Another sign that we might have it anymore in the states.
Your attitude is defeatist and hurts instead of helps.

Also, ALL this was pretty well covered in the committee hearings, which I said you could find on cspan:

One, we are not broke, we have money coming in, it's our priorities that are out of wack, among many other things.
It was the right investment. The US has made many of them that has paid off, you know like the Internet and the road system. This investment was well researched over 2 presidents. It failed because we got under cut plain and simple. If we want viable energy alternatives we are going to have I research and spend for it. Not complain...
You can criticize my spelling but cannot google for yourself? It's a pretty accepted number, maybe you should listen to the committee hearings via cspan or read any news article that researched it at all. It will make you a better informed dick.
