I'd say look for apartments Downtown Plymouth, Novi or Northville.

Downtown Plymouth is pretty walkable and plenty of stuff to do.

In addition to what has already been said, there are different programs for international or global social work. I know at my program you can have your field practice at anywhere from Peru to Russia.
