TROPHY CASE

[Build Help] New, here is my needs/wants by mobilehoboin buildapc

[–]noctisXII 2 points3 points ago

SSDs tend to be more useful for booting up the OS if you ask me, but I'm no expert. You can easily bump your build up later by installing a purchased SSD. Your build is not dependent on your hard drive.

Focus on your GPU and CPU. These will be your bottlenecks for performance.

Anyone have any pointers for a summer job in CP by therealmatttaylorin UMD

[–]noctisXII 2 points3 points ago

I've worked in the some of the aforementioned departments, and while talking to people IS helpful, all they really do is tell you where to apply (ie online, as already mentioned). UMD has pretty much pushed the process to become fully electronic. Talking to people will help you find out about jobs and may even help with interviews, but in the end, you will still have to rely on postings.

[Build Complete] $500 Budget Rig, thank you to Micro Center. by austin713in buildapc

Yes. I was in your same situation literally yesterday, and I did a lot of research on the Windows OS that you have on your build ( I was comparing between that or the normal 160 dollar OS). There are many complaints of users installing the OS and losing everything when they decided to change some hardware aspect of their build. If you go and check the Amazon reviews for it you will see what I mean. I just thought it would be helpful to let you know

For your budget, I would suggest forgoing the SSD. It isn't necessary when that money could be going for other components.

At this point you are pretty much shit out of luck with on campus jobs, sorry. Summer jobs usually become available halfway throughout the Spring semester, and positions are usually closed a month before finals.

On that note, check your department for postings, the stamps websites, or the desk of your residence hall to find potential jobs next semester.

I like what you have going, but how do you feel about 8 gigs of RAM instead of 4? Or does it not make a difference in this build?

But it should be able to run most modern games and upcoming games at good settings, correct? I'd like to last me at least 2 years

Yea that is fine by me. It's good to see all these options I wasn't aware of. How do you feel this build will do with running games at high/ultra settings? Is that likely?

Sorry if my build sucks, it is my first time trying this out haha. Learn something new every day! How do you think this build will fare with games out today?

I'd like to keep it in the 500-650 range, if possible, but if there are some major performance increases for a good value, I wouldn't be opposed to paying a little more.

If possible, does anyone mind sending me a guest pass? It's for my brother who is having a hard time, story inside by noctisXIIin Diablo

[–]noctisXII[S] 0 points1 point ago

Thank you so much, you have no idea how much this means to me. I'm at college so it's hard for me to be there for my brother when he is going through tough times like this. I know getting him this game would put a smile on his face. You are amazing, thank you

Unfortunately, the starter edition for Diablo 3 only runs with a guest pass for the first 30 days, at least in the US :( If anyone could help, it would mean so much for me and my family.
