S. 968 was introduced by Senator Patrick Leahy on May 12, 2011. His edge detection/magnification stuff is written in pure python with no calls out to external libraries. That's really the wonder of this particular hack (and the thrill of Pypy).

You might want to contact The Midwife Center to see if they have any recommendations. They were able to handle most of the prenatal stuff, and work with various Ob/Gyns if needed.

My son played it for a while. Unfortunately, it makes all of its revenue off of micro-transactions, you'll find your progress blocked in many places because you need to spend additional money.

Pets require constant maintenance (frequently requiring an influx of cash), so if you find that you can't log in for a period of time, your pet will die.

I'd probably give it a pass unless SOE was going to gift PSN+ members with a stipend to offset some portion of the cash overhead.

Last update I saw was beginning of January. I'd recommend following things on the Introversion forums if you're truly curious.

These things take time. It especially takes more time, given that they've reduce their total number of full time staff down to a skeleton crew. But they're almost definitely still working on Subversion. There's just not much to say right now.

Actually, you're playing Niobe in the game, one of the captains of the magnetic hoverships. In order to escape 'certain death' by the sentinels attacking Zion, she sets off the EMP near the gate mechinism. Neo just happens to be lucky enough to be within the blast radius at the right time to wave his hands and have the "hack" happen.

Part of the gimmick was that they actually shot footage that only shows up in the game that shows this.

They used a gimmick, and tied the explanation of the sentinel deactivation to one of the spin-off games (Enter the Matrix, I believe), where one of the things you do ends of setting off an EMP in near proximity to Neo.

It was really unfortunate that they chose that rather than going for the Matryoshka Matrix.

Exactly. Since the chain of trust is broken, and the Black/Grey Hats now have the master keys, they can set up a job that pulls down the latest firmware update, extract the new master key, and stores that somewhere.

They then have a chain that allows them to decrypt going forward from the last firmware release to the current one. They could even set it up so that their linux-based GameOS replacement updates its master keyring at whatever update frequency that Sony chooses.

The only way for Sony to win is to take their ball and go home. The current consoles can't become guaranteed secure without having a trusted mechanism. I suppose one thing they could do is to start issuing per machine private keys, signing a challenge key of some sort via PSN, and the requiring that every new game 'activate' via PSN. That would unfortunately make all new games require network access, which would go over like a lead balloon for a non-trivial subset of their gaming population.

The biggest issue is that the master private key has been decrypted. This means that if you want to transition from your compromised firmware to an uncompromised one, you must distribute your new private key in your new firmware release using your compromised firmware.

I think that they really can't unbreak this compromise without re-establishing a trusted stack. And that can't happen without a new hardware release -- everything else depends on having a trustworthy stack to load the data through.
