Get money together ASAP. Once you're out of the incubator, if you aren't already making money, you'll need some to continue everything you've built.

Reddit, what do you think about my idea for advertising on Facebook? by GeorgeFromTheUKin Entrepreneur

[–]newrenowhore 7 points8 points ago

Sounds like it might be against Facebook's terms, but if it isn't, go for it.

The big issue will be tracking... can't imagine how you'd track impressions of someone's personal Facebook.

Is there a place on Reddit where you could team up with someone, build something together, throw it out there, and see what happens? ( by windsorboarin startups

There are a lot of problems, but the biggest one is even after sitting and reading ALL of your copy (which no customer or user will have the patience for) I have absolutely no idea what your service actually does, or why it's unique.

Nice implementation, it has potential, but when you're budgeting your big push keep in mind it's a 50/50 shot. Reddit, she is a fickle beast, and either everyone on reddit will use this or the reddit hivemind will decide they hate it and it'll go nowhere. Reddit hates more than it loves, so tread lightly.

What is your top tip on how to engage your facebook audience and gain more followers? by Sparkwoodand21in Entrepreneur

[–]newrenowhore 0 points1 point ago

You're going to spend a frustratingly long time trying to organically attract Facebook followers.

Buy them. Run ads.

I'm speaking from experience, the ads really work. Set up a "likewall" on your page and offer a benefit - any small benefit, it really doesn't matter - for liking the page. Use Facebook's absurdly easy targeting system to find your audience and run a series of ads linking to your Facebook's likewall. It comes out to anywhere between $0.30 to $0.50 per like depending on how good your ad copy/concept is.

Here's the kicker - whenever you get someone to like your page, it goes to their Facebook wall, and their friends' news feeds. So that $0.30 is buying your brand a ton of exposure.

Use the golden ratio for the cloud.

Pick a lighter background color that isn't orange or red. Blue would suit this.

The tentacles don't make sense. Unify them somehow.

I know these are loaded questions with no real answers, but they're the two common ones about VCs and I'd love to hear your input.

  1. How much does a VC usually take?
  2. Do VC firms really just want to flip your company as soon as possible for the greatest profit?

I know it depends on the situation, so let's take this one: If a company has $1 million in annual revenue and a solid brand after ~$50,000 of Angel cash, what would be your approach? Is it all about valuation, or is there wiggle room?
