I have family in Wroclaw (formerly the German city of Breslau). My family was originally from Lvov which became part of the Ukraine after the war so they were relocated to Wroclaw.

My cousin told me one of his neighbors found some belongings in his basement belonging to the former German occupants of his house and he found an address for them. He wrote to let them know he was keeping the house in the same look as when they lived there and told them about the tree in the yard that was planted by them that was now a large tree. He invited them to come visit anytime.

The German wrote back and said "Thank you for keeping the house in such good shape and I would love to come back and see that tree. I will especially love to see it after I hang you from that tree."
