Look at this wildly popular comment on Reddit that was part of a post where people were talking about times when they thought they were going to die from taking a shit . It doesn't get much more vapid than that.

EDIT: My point is, we shouldn't be using a reality tv show whose sole purpose is entertainment as an example of the overall decline in society. Many intelligent people are entertained by things like potty humor. Just look at any number of popular comments, topics, pictures, videos, comics, etc on Reddit any day of the week. My dad was the smartest man I've ever known: he was a genius at math and physics and worked as a video game programmer for 20 years, but he was constantly entertained by making fart jokes.

My point is what entertains us is not reflective of our intelligence, and certainly not the intelligence of society as a whole. I can understand lower standards in schools and the demonizing of intellectualism in American media as examples, but not this.

I think it's a sound model. As long as the developers are releasing an appropriate amount of content and the content stays good and fresh, it will work. It gives them more incentive to continue making more content while at the same time making a bit of money. I don't think they're simply withholding content with this model, quite the opposite. This is not like buying horse armor or bullshit like that.

It's idiots like this who get people riled up. Referring to a fetus as an "innocent person" is loaded language if I've ever seen it.

Who said anything about suicide or life expectany? The fact is that concussions can lead to brain issues like speech and memory issues, and football is a sport where concussions are common.

Also, post-concussive issues may not lead to suicide, but that doesn't mean they can't contribute. What would you do with yourself if you were in your 20's or 30's and had a brain that functioned closer to an 80 year old with alzheimers?
