Tolerance or toleration is the practice of permitting a thing of which one disapproves, such as social, ethnic, sexual, or religious practices.

It sounds more negative than the german description, which has a 'live and let live' undertone, minus the disapproval. I think that description does the term more justice.

One should probably not let co-workers, who are basically strangers of some sort to the dog when it comes to commands, walk him unleashed. Just a thought, not criticizing the poor dog owner in this story. We had an office dog too, but one or two persons (of 200+) complained that they are afraid of dogs so he is not allowed anymore.

The problem is that people still seem to be surprised. They must be new to the internet. Just assume: companys log everything and sell it to the highest bidder. Then work from there.
