The Pyro is a robot. He was originally designed so that Abe Lincoln, then in the life device, could control him remotely from the unit. Eventually the Engineers lady, the assistant to the administrator who was know for also liking fire, became injured and the engineer put her in the life unit and let her control the pyro. The muffled voice is due to her commands being interpreted through her brainwaves and being out putted on an internal speaker of the pyro unit. It's muffled like a drive through window speaker and being an automated voice resembles a male, namely the original pyro controller, abe lincoln. The engineer has been attempting to fix the voice issue through various localization updates but has so far been unsuccessfull. It's hard to localize to a spanish accent apparently. Many people question the body gibs of the robot but fail to realize that the engineers earlier experiment that grafted a robot arm onto his body gave him experience combining flesh and steel. He now uses body parts from various killed teammates as easy parts for the pyro robot/ cyborg. The flame suit is used to hide the frankenstein like appearance of the various combined body parts and robotics. The Assistant being the engineers lady is paralyzed in her life unit but does like to relate to her loving man by sometimes doning his glove on her pyro unit's head. Like he uses his glove to hide his robotic hand, she uses it to cover the pyros robotic head.
