It keeps saying Idris...is this the new manifestation of Iris Wildthyme, who was the doctor's wife in the books and the audio stories?

My husband and I watch old Who like Mystery Science Theater 3000. We make fun of the silly effects and come up with catch phrases for the boring characters. They have a level of cheese where it's good fun, and a few of them actually have really great story lines.

The quality eras were the end of the third doctor, the entire fourth, and the first few years of the fifth (IMHO).

Anyone else hoping that the 12th Doctor is particularly old? by Vrothgarrin doctorwho

RTD talked a lot in the behind the scenes that the Doctor shaped his look based on what he thought Rose would like. Including the accent. An imprinting of sorts. So yes, that implies he has some measure of control. Although clearly less than Romana, who was able to model herself exactly after some queen they met on a prior planet.

I remember during casting the 11th doctor there was a rumor that Robert Carlyle was up for the role and then news came out he'd been cast in Stargate Universe instead. Now that SGU is cancelled, I hope there is a shot - I still think he'd make a fabulous doctor.

My wife and I just spent the past two weeks obsessively watching all 56 of the available episodes (2005-2010) of Dr Who on netflix. Why did none of my friends warn of the addictiveness of this show? by jeremiahlupinskiin doctorwho

It's funny, we've been trying to get our friends hooked since Season One without success and now suddenly everybody's into it. I think Matt Smith is a better gateway doctor for American audiences than Tennant or Eccleston were..

Put you on birth control, if you're not on it already. It will help them shrink.

By the way, don't worry about them. They are extremely common and other than the annoying symptoms, they are not likely to hurt you.

It depends on what you guys like. There's something for everybody. I love the Japanese teppenyaki, but for atmosphere you cannot beat the San Angel Inn inside the Mexican pyramid.

I have a strong suspicion you have ovarian cysts. I have a history of them. When they pop they can cause strong pain, vomiting, and fatigue because they release a bunch of nasty crap into your abdominal cavity that goes around irritating the rest of your organs.

Tell your doctor you want an ultrasound done. They'll see what's going on down by your ovary and can tell you if it's a cyst or something else weird.

Just email them and tell them that. Give them the contact info for your school and let them deal with it.

I think I hate Moffat - Spoilers, extrapolation, supposition, and insane ramblings. by [deleted]in doctorwho

The layering of mysteries and the slow burn in getting to answers reminds me a lot of Lost. I just pray that with Moffat that when we finally do get answers they will be a bit more satisfying than Lost ended up being. :) I suspect they will be.

Re: the River stuff, I think that the last to first, first to last thing is generally how they are meeting, but it's not precise. I mean, as we know, time is wibbly wobbly. So when River says they are back to front, she means that in a general way. And don't forget that the journal the Doctor has theoretically contains every record of their meeting, because he received it from River on their last meeting. So she's working with a partial set, and he has the full set.

I don't understand people's hang-up with the Doctor getting romantic. Is he not allowed to have romantic feelings towards people ever?

How do you find an exciting job? I'm bored out of my mind and want a change. by Username8000in AskReddit

Sea divers are actually in huge demand. Just find a local occupational diving school and go chat with them about career opportunities. It's pretty high-paying work, although ti does have a fairly high mortality rate.

A lot of those other people are mechanics and engineers that work on dams, telescopes, electric grids, etc. You get those jobs by studying that field, gathering relevant experience, and then applying. Just like any other job.

For example, just to pick one of the places off the list you provided, here is the employment page for a company that maintains the Alaskan Pipeline:

http://www.alyeska-pipe.com/employment/employment.asp

Look at the education and experience they require and if you want that job, go obtain it.
