There are a million moms who would have you believe my "traditional family values" stand in oppposition to this. Or you could read the article.

The streets have potholes. If you can find a sidewalk, it's cracked and uneven and you have to pay to park. Your commute will suck because of the traffic and assholes in black BMWs that cut you off. Other than that it's great (except for the crappy restaurants).

I finally bought my first car last week, the car I've wanted since I was 13 by YaKoStarin cars

I am 41 and therefore an old fart, but I think it's kinda cool that kids today aspire to own something that gets good mileage, is reasonably safe and not a smokestack on wheels. In my day it was big old Mustangs, highly flammable (and crunchable) MGs and giant 4x4 trucks. I can appreciate all cars, just sayin' kudos to you for finding your dream car. I had a red 1986 Honda Civic Si back in 1991 and I loved that little pocket rocket.

Thanks. Do small planes use nitrogen filled tires too? Or is that just for the big boys?

Interesting! I love learning new stuff. For planes with carbs, doesn't the air/fuel mixture have to be adjusted at different heights/air pressure? Gravity feed alone works ok?

Forgive my ignorance as I know virtually nothing about aircraft, but how do these internal combustion engines keep oil and fuel flowing where they need to under changes in air pressure and g-forces. Are all piston engines fuel injected?

DFW Airport, from the Air by irishamericanin Dallas

[–]mgbgtv8 1 point2 points ago

I suspect the original planners would probably say the only shortsightedness was in not building all 13 terminals ... and draining Grapevine Lake while they were at it. :-)

I think what's good for the airport and airline industry has come at an extraordinary cost to the surrounding communities. This thing actually extends back to the building and closing of Greater Southwest, an entire airport shuttered and rebuilt a few miles away after only 21 years of operation. Seems most are content to look at all the pretty planes while downvoting anyone who asks questions. (Not you MaverickTTT, thank you for tolerating my rant!)
