TROPHY CASE

php 5.4 is really fast and with less memory leaks here are the benchmarks with 5.3 and 5.4 by mariuzin PHP

That Drupal performance is unbelievable. As in I literally don't believe it, unless its just serving up a cached page from the DB, which isn't a proper test of PHP execution.

I prefer Drupal, but there is no way it outperforms zend or wordpress by that much (if at all!).

Opera Dragging Down Parts of Webpages? by hiflyer780in operabrowser

[–]meatsack 0 points1 point ago

nah other sites too, but its mainly with videos. For instance I can't even watch the videos here: http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/

But can see them fine in win7 with same version of Opera and can also see them in OSX if I use Chrome. Youtube itself works fine, so I think its something to do with embedding.

I've also been to other blog sites with the 'sticky' videos like your link is showing, but I can't think of any addresses right now sorry.

ATT has most of the games from quarter finals on (2 bowl quarter finals weren't shown in the cappers country, so they're missing, but everything else seems to be there). Do you know how to torrent?

SSX Multiplayer head to head? by Dunk_13in Games

[–]meatsack 0 points1 point ago

I think its more of a Trackmania style. Where you have a timed session to set a best score/time, but you can have unlimited attempts in that session to improve. You can also set up private events, and choose whether it'll be trick or race. There is however no countdown to start, so people can start their run whenever and best time/score wins after the session ends.

Rewinds are punished; in a race, time doesn't stop/rewind, so while you're rewinding, other racers are still going down the slope. For trick events, you lose points while rewinding.

Nope, as an Australian selector we have to see you fail for 2-3 seasons before thinking about dropping you.

Help - I have Opera installed on 2 computers, both up to date, Win7. One displays some pages wacky like this while the other shows them normal. What I've checked in the settings seems identical between the two. What can I do to fix this? by Badger68in operabrowser

[–]meatsack 4 points5 points ago

You have 'Fit to width' on. See the little arrow next to the zoom slider in the bottom right? Click that and toggle it off. Or you can just press Ctrl+F11.

Its meant to fit wide websites into smaller monitors, but some CSS can screw it up, and you end up with some pages like your screenshot.

What Berlin thinks about Occupy Wall Street by Aschebescherin occupywallstreet

[–]meatsack 0 points1 point ago

ah true. Though it appears the wall has been painted white in between pics, so there must have been a bad piece done over the historical graffiti for them to do that.

That is the real vandalism, spraying over such a historical piece is wrong, not just legally, but in the street art world as well.

You must be running a better setup than I, I zoomed and zoomed and couldn't see Oakland at all.

What Berlin thinks about Occupy Wall Street by Aschebescherin occupywallstreet

[–]meatsack 10 points11 points ago

  1. It was done in Berlin, so not sure why you're angry at OWS.
  2. Occupy Berlin actually had this on a mock Styrofoam section of the wall. Though this image doesn't seem to be the same piece (unless it got redone at some stage).
  3. Berlin is known for its street art. The police only really go after taggers spraying gang related messages.

Hasn't it sold way more on consoles than on PC? Therefore if it wasn't on consoles as well it would have had a much smaller budget?

I think the pressure of beating MW3 to market meant the game was released too early. Things like the OP are the kind of polish you put in when you have proper time to finish.

So true by sidcool1234in GetMotivated

[–]meatsack 1 point2 points ago

I think it was more about being a part of a bigger plan and being ranked.

Yeah it was the wrong way to go about it, but people want to work towards a goal and have meaningful milestones. If you're in a call center(or similar) you can work your butt off and see very little in the bottom line... Fight Club was about satisfaction. Yeah it was the wrong way to get it, but to call them idiots?? Remember they tried to take down financial institutions with no life lost. All they did was the GFC 10 years early.

(edit: I realize the above was a little too literal. It was all aimed at the fight club fiction...)

true, I assume parsing an RSS feed should be in their scope though.

There are 3rd party tools that let you code once and deploy on multiple platforms. See Corona for example.

Man Wants to Live Like Bear Grylls for a Year, Dies in Less than a Month by Lozaratronin offbeat

[–]meatsack -1 points0 points ago

For a second thought you were referring to Les Hiddins, then realized you were more likely talking about Les Stroud.

Les Hiddins was known as the "Bush Tucker Man" about 20 years ago. Watching his old episodes on survival is night and day compared to Grylls. Hiddins was smart, Grylls went for the best TV shot.

"People who fly Australian flags on their cars have more racist views than the rest of the population, a new study has found." by OneSalientOversightin australia

[–]meatsack 3 points4 points ago

No! That's not what the survey found at all. (I blame the journalist/editor not the OP for the title)

It found (using a pretty small sample size) that people with Australian flags on their car were more likely to be racist. But not every person with an Aussie flag on their car is more racist than everyone who doesn't have the flag.

"You had flag flyers who were expressing non-racist views, so I wouldn't like people to go away from hearing about this research thinking, 'oh well all people who have flags on their cars are racist'. That's certainly not the finding," she said.
