It's just a normal 2D image with one or both of the pair distorted. The worst thing other than the flat background is that the guy with the green shovel's head is split into 2 depths!

I haven't viewed many of the images in this subreddit yet, so I dunno if it's par for the course, but this image is false stereo.

I did, in fact, "get" the comic; I just thought it was a little absurd.

Yes they're obsolete, but scrolls still exist and are still used in a variety of situations. Likewise, physical books aren't going anywhere for a very long time either. In fact, I would wager that the Kindle certainly, and perhaps all dedicated e-readers, will be long forgotten before physical books cease to be.

Favorite shoes for when you can't be barefoot? by Befallin barefoot

[–]magnetoencefalografy 1 point2 points ago

I live in London, so Vivo Barefoot shoes are easy for me to try on before I buy them. They're quite expensive but they have a ton of styles, and most of them have a nicely sized toe box. I actually feel more barefoot wearing them than my VFFs, but the VFFs are more functionally barefoot.

As for the smell in your VFFs, wear toe socks! There are a few Korean sellers on eBay who sell reasonably priced ones that are WAY more comfortable than expensive Injinji's.

As a guy, I hate it too. Even on girls with perfect arses, the tops of leggings/tights are just... unflattering.

Awesome image though. I'm gonna view those guys in a totally different light from now on!

Is the barefoot lifestyle an all-or-nothing proposition? by Kierranin barefoot

[–]magnetoencefalografy 2 points3 points ago

Yep, the more the merrier. The fact you're gradually building up is a good thing too. Any amount of barefooting is better than none. As long as you don't injure yourself by pushing it too much.

One tip I've learned is wear toesocks exclusively. When I got my current office job I'd been barefooting for a year or so but my feet started getting really moist from wearing shoes all day. This had the effect of undoing the toughening and forced me to wear shoes a lot more. Then I got some fivefingers and some toesocks to go with them and I found that wearing the toesocks in normal shoes helps keep my feet much drier. (I assume this is due to the wicking fabric being in contact with all the skin.)

On a similar note, I'd also recommend looking into minimalist shoes with a wide toebox for work. (I wear Vivo Barefoot shoes, but I get a discount and there are much cheaper alternatives.) I cannot wear standard narrow shoes anymore, they're immensely uncomfortable.

Well it went away pretty quickly compared to the previous incidences, so the bruising thing seems likely. My foot does seem to be badly aligned around there though, so maybe I should look into yoga.

"One Day Without Shoes." Let's show them how it's done. by ai_kanein barefoot

[–]magnetoencefalografy 12 points13 points ago

I hate this bullshit. It's the one day we (barefooters) should all wear shoes to raise awareness of what a misleading, publicity grabbing cause this is.

I'd like to say the upside of this is that people who take part will be less inclined to complain about barefooters the rest of the year. But since they're going into it with the mindset of injury and disease, I don't think that's the case.

What to do about work? by brilliantlydullin barefoot

[–]magnetoencefalografy 0 points1 point ago

I put quotes round "correct" in my first post for a reason. I walk both ways depending on the circumstances.

The only people I've actually seen walking barefoot their whole lives are very young children and they seem to walk forefoot, but it's not exactly like they have long strides.

Other than that, with videos of people who I assume had been walking barefoot all their lives, I've seen both.

I'm the only barefooter I know IRL, so I'm basing "majority of barefooters" on what I'd read on various barefoot forums/blogs.
