What's the worst thing to happen to your camera? by mugatu-in photography

[–]m1ss1ontomars2k4 0 points1 point ago

My sister just barely dipped my mom's D5100 and attached 18-200 in to the Pacific Ocean. The body no longer recognizes lenses and some of the buttons don't work. The lens is fine though.

Suggestion for future Diablo releases to prevent running through. by Tenkin Diablo

This happens in every browser I use, so I don't think it's a Chrome/Iron/Chromium/WebKit-related problem.

At what level gold income becomes abundant? by sitramin Diablo

[–]m1ss1ontomars2k4 0 points1 point ago

I don't know about that one. I have loads of crafting materials (that it looks like I will never use, so that was a waste) and have upgraded both artisans a lot. I barely sell anything on the auction house because I don't have much that's good. I buy a bunch of stuff, but I still have like 300k just sitting around doing nothing. I also have no +gold find gear. To tell the truth, I really have no idea how I have so much money, since none of the people I play with have anywhere near as much, but that was the trend when we played D2 as well. I always had tons of money and nobody else had any.

Can we stop saying keyloggers are the reason accounts are getting hacked? by danjiro2in Diablo

[–]m1ss1ontomars2k4 0 points1 point ago

They could have stolen your password months ago...I created my Battle.net account probably years ago by now, and all someone would have to do is get my password sometime after the RMAH was announced (so they'd have incentive to do it). They could have passwords for millions of accounts, just waiting for them to get some decent items for RMAH selling or whatever.

Oh, one of them was red so I thought it was an oppressor. D3 has a lot of bugs where NPCs and such get duplicated; this seems similar, almost.

I've already taken a different multivariable calculus class at NU if that helps.

What? Why are you taking it again, exactly...?

Given the choice, would you have attended Cal? by freelightsin ucla

[–]m1ss1ontomars2k4 0 points1 point ago

There is never any wifi in Kinsey Pavilion, and as a non-Berkeley student, you should not have been getting wifi anywhere at Berkeley. Well, in classrooms you should have gotten AirBears signal but not been able to log in. Same in the dorms, except with RESCOMP.

OK, I did my undergrad at Cal and am a grad student at UCLA. I don't know anything about those programs at either school, so this will be a little hard.

I enjoyed Cal a lot more than I have enjoyed UCLA so far. I especially don't like LA very much. Way too much traffic; forget driving anywhere 'cause you'll never get there, and if you do manage to make it all the way there without getting into 20 near-accidents with people who won't let you merge in, you can't stay because there's no parking. You can't go back home either because there's too much traffic in that direction too. Also, I find that too many people at UCLA have some sort of inferiority complex regarding Cal, which I find to be incredibly irritating. People said there weren't a lot of douchey bro types, but there's, IMO, tons. Not my kind of people.

I always wanted to go to Berkeley, and I managed to do that for undergrad. They wouldn't take me for grad school, so now I'm stuck out here.

For employment opportunities/networking, this is largely a function of who you know, and I'm hoping someone who majored in Communications at UCLA can fill you in. I don't even really know what majoring in Communications means so I can't really help you.

SF is a pretty popular place to visit as a Berkeley student; people do indeed visit SF a lot. Maybe I just irrationally hate traffic, but I think I saw more of LA before becoming a UCLA student than I have in the past year or so here. I don't know if UCLA students make regular trips to other parts of LA, but I know I sure as hell don't.

EDIT: This is actually pretty important. Right next to the plaque at UCLA where they say the internet was invented (casually speaking), it is not actually possible to get a cell phone signal or any wifi reception (there are plenty of password-protected networks, but none that you can access as a regular student). It's a bit of a running joke, actually. Berkeley's wifi network is maintained way better. Again, ironically, in the EECS buildings there's occasionally very poor service, but at last on average it's better.

YOU MAKE YOUR BEST FRIENDS (in fact most of your friends) FROM YOUR FRESHMAN DORM. Pick one with lots of people and stuff going on so you have a large social network.

I disagree. I certainly made many very good friends in the dorms, and I still talk to that group of people regularly (daily, in fact), but I made just as many friends via the student group I joined. I also disagree with the notion that you want a really social dorm. That's a terrible idea. You're going to college to study and learn, not to hang out. What you want is a dorm with people who want to hang out when you do, but know how to leave you alone when you don't. I probably got lucky in that respect.

Completely opposite from UCLA where there is always something going on everywhere.

Much like LA in general, not just UCLA, and thus the traffic is just terrible.

The buildings were overall much older (that's what you get from an older campus) and some didn't have AC.

At least they have wifi...AC isn't really necessary in Berkeley anyway. Actually, it hasn't been necessary in LA either. Maybe I'm just not that picky about warm weather.

Plus, whenever my Cal friends visit, they never stop raving about the food because they don't like Cal food.

The grass is always greener on other side. I liked Cal food a lot. I had a meal plan all four years.

I think google should brand the android sdk with a unique name to aid searching by DarkFlarein androiddev

[–]m1ss1ontomars2k4 6 points7 points ago

as something unique akin to how there is the iphone and iOs.

This is exactly what Google already does. There is iPhone the hardware, iPad the hardware, and iOS the operating system. There is the iOS SDK which is, unsurprisingly, the SDK.

Google has named things the exact same way. There's a bunch of different phones which are the hardware, there's Android the operating system, and there's the Android SDK which is, also unsurprisingly, the SDK.

I don't understand what you are suggesting.
