Finding 1080p content? by palehorse864in Roku

[–]lukemcr 1 point2 points ago

Install Plex Media Server and the Plex channel, and download 1080p content - might I suggest movie trailers or Big Buck Bunny or something? That's assuming you're going strictly legal of course.

Edit: ripping your own Blu-rays would work too.

TIL in 2004-2005, McDonalds paid rappers to mention Big Macs in their songs and paid them $5 each time their songs got played on the radio. by IrritableOwlSyndromein todayilearned

The next trick is to get all 25 songs played on the radio, frequently. :-)

My wife and I are in the process of buying a short sale house right now, and I feel kinda bad for the people we're buying it from. We're paying 46% less than it was last sold for, in 2007. :-/

Thanks, I know! The Sacramento Kings haven't been this close to a Stanley Cup since Wayne Gretzky, Ron Artest and Peja Stojakovic teamed up at Arco Arena in 1996!

Can anyone recommend a good Sacramento-area Christian marriage therapist/counselor? by lukemcrin Sacramento

[–]lukemcr[S] 3 points4 points ago

Do you think a non-Christian would be more likely to say divorce is an option but a Christian would approach it as "divorce is not recognized in the bible"?

It's more subtle than that. A Christian couple should strive to make God a central part of their lives and of their relationship. A therapist who believes in the criticality of God in a Christian relationship would be a lot more useful for Christian couples than one who doesn't.

My wife and I have been married for more than five years. We want to see a Christian therapist because we are both Christian, and I believe that non-Christian therapists treat marriage a bit differently than Christian therapists would.

All I'm going to say is that "All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." would make a good sample.

Viewing the eclipse with a colander by madrid1979in pics

[–]lukemcr 5 points6 points ago

They're two different things. A colander is a metal bowl with two small handles on the sides and lots of holes punched in it. A strainer is more like a loop with a single long handle, with a "bowl" made of fine steel mesh attached on the bottom.

The Internet's response to the announcement of Heath Ledger playing the Joker........We were so wrong... by RobertF23in movies

[–]lukemcr 1 point2 points ago

Anyone who watched Brokeback Mountain before The Dark Knight came out knew that Heath Ledger could act. That makes me think that "the Internet" didn't watch Brokeback Mountain, probably because they thought it was too gay.
