Historians of Reddit, what is your favorite weapon in your area of study? by RandomCaucasianin AskHistorians

This is brilliant, thank you.
I can confidently say that he wasn't involved with any Tirpitz-related mission, as he received a severe head wound from flak while flying on a raid on Dortmund on 6 October. He was able to return to Mepal and land the plane, but was invalided out of the war from that point.

My grandfather flew a Lancaster, and one of his missions was to Kattegat Bay north of Copenhagen in early October 1944 - Here's the flight log saying 'Gardening 6 mines', and the official record enumerates the aircraft involved.

This is the sum of my knowledge so far, but I'd like to know more.

Do you know anything about mine-laying by Allied bombers during WW2?

Well, that makes the line "Unless the enemy has studied his Agrippa… which I have." in 'The Princess Bride' make a lot more sense.

What can we do today to ensure that big media in the long term is utterly smashed and destroyed forever and ever? by sanieein AskReddit

[–]logantauranga 1 point2 points ago

  1. Don't watch it
  2. Tell your buddy not to watch it
  3. Get EVERYBODY IN THE WHOLE WORLD not to watch it

(There's a bit of a jump between 2 and 3)

What would you say is the anthem of this "internet generation"? by Joke_Chokein AskReddit

[–]logantauranga -1 points0 points ago

Oh say can you see my LOLcat's misspelled type,
Or my proud comment "FAIL" at YouTube's Twilight streaming,
GIFs of AV pornstars, which I later would wipe
Or the manga I watched, or content far less redeeming?
And Colbert hates bears! And Chuck Norris ain't scared!
Just ten thousands "Likes" and Rebecca Black shaves her hair!
O say does the Star Wars Kid's saber still wave?
I've got ADHD and I'm the internet's slave.

Take a look at these two Wikipedia articles about rhythm in verse. I think they'll really help you take your poetry to the next level.

Job offer in Auckland - what's so awesome about your city? by MrChipin auckland

The only thing it fears is caffeine. When it rains I pop in to a cafe and have some espresso. When I come out the rain has gone.

Checkmate, atheists.

Yeah, his reply about where he was from happened about 20min after I commented.
Snow Planet would go over about as well as a mooseskin toque in a chinook.

Yeah, but it's not rain like Hamilton or Tauranga gets rain. Auckland might have it for five minutes and then nothing for the rest of the day, whereas in the thicker parts of the island it's more likely to rain for hours.

100k is fine. It's no more expensive to live in Auckland than in most large English-speaking cities.

The weather can be very changeable due to the narrowness of the island, but is generally good.

JAFA is used by New Zealanders in other cities and rural areas. It's an insult, but because the people that use it are living in relatively shitty places compared to Auckland, it doesn't carry much weight.

One day in Auckland:
- Coffee and shopping in Ponsonby
- Top of the Sky Tower to take a look around
- Harbour Bridge bungy jump
- Lunch at Takapuna beach on the North Shore
- Skiing at Snow Planet in Albany
- Drive out to the west coast to Piha beach
