My friend sat next to an 80 year old woman playing Pokemon Red on his flight home from Boston. by Lv99_Metapodin gaming

That's funny because I caught one of my high school students playing Pokemon red on an old Gameboy in class today. I teach graphic design at an all girls Catholic high school...Never saw that one coming.

yeah someone once asked if my husband and I are brother and sister! We are sort of close in height and both have brown wavy hair. But there is no chance we are related, I am Italian and he is Russian :-)

Hey Reddit. My GF's sister just died and I am completely unprepared for this as a boyfriend. by itsthedashiin AskReddit

There really is nothing you can say to make it better. Just let her know you are "there" which it seems like you already have, but don't overdo it. Try to get her to have fun again, do things to cheer her up.

Have any 2x'ers actually gotten TSS(toxic shock syndrome) from tampons? by Avalon81204in TwoXChromosomes

[–]leetendo85 0 points1 point ago

Yeah I can see that it may be a good idea to try the disposable ones first. Although I did the same and found that the disposable ones leaked-they are awful in my opinion. I got the mooncup for $20 on Amazon, and I find that it works really well. Some people apparently have a hard time inserting and removing it but once you get the hang of it it's fine. I read somewhere that you may want to give it a 3 month learning curve.

Apparently it does because it is collecting the blood instead of absorbing it like a tampon. It is mentioned in this article about TSS.

the disposable cups are awful, I recommend the non-disposable ones. They may take some getting used to but they work! And no worrying about TSS. I use the mooncup, but I think that the divacup is good too.

My cat is actually doing much better now....she actually uses the thing. We solved the sink problem by always keeping some water in it!

...I agree with you there. This is why we didn't tell the guy that we are vegan...didn't feel like getting into a heated argument over it.

Wow, really, sexual abuse?! It is sad how people in this country are so conditioned to see female breasts as sex objects rather than for their original intended purpose. The fact that anyone would equate breastfeeding your own child with sexual abuse is very, very sad.

I think it is important for the man in the new mother's life to make her feel beautiful, and not insecure about her body.

Ugh sorry to hear. Not ALL Americans are like this though. I am from the NYC area, and it is generally more liberal than a lot of other parts of the US. I am an artist and my husband is a yoga teacher. Last summer we did some camping in North Carolina. We camped on a local couple's property. They were generally nice, and the woman was telling us about the nearby artist community. The man had a frown on his face the whole time. He said something like "Them damn hippy vegetarians! They're DANGEROUS. A menace to society!" My husband says "How can they be so dangerous, they eat vegetables?" ...We didn't bother telling him that we are vegan...

I know that in the US people can be VERY uptight about women brestfeeding in public places. That said, the US is VERY diverse and I think a lot of it depends on where you are. (The NYC area and California tend to be more liberal, for example) What kind of gets me is you see all of these advertisments with women wearing super low-cut shirts, which probably show more boob than a breastfeeding mother anyway!
