I'm on vacation in the South Pacific right now, so I can't check. But Auton hands make a very distinctive sound when they flip down to reveal weapons. I'm not so sure about Kraal androids.

They seem to be themselves until they are activated...Chedaki wasn't so happy with Styygron's plans to destroy humanity.
