He actually made a smart move taking the plea. There is no doubt, especially with her about face even after admitting it was a lie she would have lied on the stand. The judge would have crucified him, being a young black man. He would still be in prison no doubt if he hadn't taken the plea deal. I think his lawyers did him right in this instance.

It speaks volumes about how the burden of proof in rape cases is not on the "victim" but on the offender to prove he didn't rape her. That is a fucked up and flawed system, because the burden of proof for a crime is always on the prosecution, not the defendant. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? The thing with rape cases is he admitted to having consensual sex with her. Suddenly she revokes consent and now its on him to prove its not rape? It's impossible, even if you got written consent to have sex with her she could say she withdrew consent mid way through or that she was coerced into signing it. The burden of proof would then be on you.

In this system if you have sex with any female at any time she can call it rape and you go to jail. Even my wife could accuse me of rape and I would go to jail. Unless I had filmed it - and then I'd probably go to jail for filming without her consent. Either way a man is fucked in this world with these rules. I would rather some rapists go free than have one man lose his entire life and career over some self serving conniving female.

You know what pissed me off the other day, I was in training about sexual assault and they said that 900 cases of sexual assault were reported across all the armed forces in 2010 - that means that 13,000 sexual assaults took place. I was like are you fucking serious? They just extrapolate numbers and assume they are true because feminazis keep pushing their "90% of sexual assaults go unreported" mantra on the masses because the raw numbers never back up their story about how persecuted they are. I wrote an e-mail to the instructor saying I took issue with her numbers and wanted her to factor in the amount that were false accusations or where no evidence existed of a sexual assault. She never got back to me, go figure - maybe she is still doing the math?

I have a super-strong stomach, I'm a combat Corpsman (medic) and I work in a lab around piss and blood all day. For some reason these pictures of dirty mice and keyboards really turn my fucking stomach. I've had dead babies affect me less than these pictures on the internet of dirty keyboards and mice do.

I just imagine crusted semen and skin flakes mixed with saliva and cheeto dust - and I'm done typing now.

Being a Sailor, and having been at sea during a storm that sunk every ship in 300 miles but mine I can attest to this statement. Anyone who has been to sea knows the terror of being left stranded alone with just you and the sharks, or having to chose between burning to death in a fire or being eaten alive by sharks if no one comes to help you.

There is a reason that the law of the seas have not changed in like 200 years. When you are out in the middle of the ocean alone and someone comes to your rescue you don't care about their politics, and you know you would rescue any Sailor at sea regardless if they are the "enemy" because that is a fate no one would wish even on their worst enemy and you would want them to do the same for you.

I think it is important to note that the tea party filed for permits every single time. Also there was not a single episode of violence at a tea party event. Also no rapes drug use or rampant lice. It is impossible to compare occupy to the tea party.

9 Year Navy vet here, still active. I have so much to say about this subject that I don't even want to get started. I worked at an all male command for my first 5 years in the Navy and everything was great. We didn't have any drama or discipline problems other than the typical alcohol related shit. At my very next command I was accused of raping a female shipmate. I got transferred, demonized, people I thought were friends turned on me in an instant. I fought it tooth and nail eventually was vindicated, returned to my job - with an even better job and title than before and carried on smartly. Guess what happened to her? nothing. She got transferred out because every time she saw me "she relived the rape" - the rape she openly admitted didn't happen. She claimed that the trauma of believing for a period of time that she had blacked out and I had raped her, even when she found out it didn't happen in real life only in her head still scarred her for life.

I moved on, transferred out of that command with rock-star status, I just forgot about her and moved on with my life and continued to be a kick ass performer. I got to my current duty station about 9 months ago - working with females again. Within 2 months of being here I already had my female boss complain she felt physically intimidated by me and she was not comfortable working with me. Keep in mind I gave her no reason to feel intimidated, but that is besides the point. She was in charge of me when I first got here - now she is not in charge of anyone and I was put in charge of everyone. She believes I got put in charge because I'm a male. I got put in charge because I am a better leader plain and simple but with these people there is always an excuse. She's been openly making remarks claiming sexism and now we are going to have to deal with an investigation and whatever else she can come up with. I'm terrified to interact with her in any way and I refuse to be behind closed doors with her because I feel she is biding her time before she drops the sexual assault allegation. I've noticed that women feel justified in claiming false sexual assault when they think you are discriminating against them, they feel it is a completely justified excuse to "seek revenge" on you.

Best advice to any active duty males, no matter how much you think she is your friend, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. They can turn on you in an instant and with no remorse. One thing I've learned is that when working with women you keep your distance, keep your mouth shut - only talk about business, don't try to be humorous and always have a witness. It's sad that they've forced themselves to be treated like this in the work place but all it takes is one bad apple.

I just moved to NY from California 9 months ago, in 2017 I will be in Europe, I'm so upset. I get to miss all the solar eclipses. This is very upsetting to me, I'm going to have to fly to Kentucky or something to see a nice one within my life time.

Americans use a lot of gas because it is in our culture to travel around regionally but we have a shitty rail system.

Also road trips in America have traditionally been glorified. Look at Route 66 and the 101. It's in our culture and lore to do road trips. In Europe if I want to get anywhere I just take the train. You can't do that so well in America. For instance I wanted to take a trip to Montreal from Albany NY - it takes 8 hours on rail because the whole train has to go through customs before it can cross the border. I just drove there instead it took 3 hours. In Europe I remember crossing from Switzerland to Germany without incident some Germans just came and asked for passports.

Also to get a train from Albany to DC the trip would be $500 for my family and take 12 hours. Fuck it, drove there in 6 for a quarter of the price in gas.

These are but a few reasons Americans use so much gas. It's in our culture. We need a kick ass - affordable rail system and everything would change. This is the number one thing you could do for the economy. It puts people to work and encourages travel and thus trade and tourism. That's just my 2 cents, I'm no economist though.

This is basically all Apple products in a nut shell. The quality is outstanding but the price they make you pay for it is way above the actual quality of the components. I guess they have to keep all of those liberal arts majors who keep designing the stuff paid well.

Apple also maintains total control over how you use their product. It blows my mind how people are still paying more to get less out of their product when similar products exist that are much cheaper and allow you the same performance but have much expanded functionality. I guess in the end it's all good though, Apple is a trailblazer and innovator. So you college kids can keep spending your money on a $1200 facebook machine to keep Apple flush with cash to research and develop shit that Sony, Toshiba, and Samsung will eventually duplicate thus bringing it into my price range.

With Apple though you are paying for the style and the brand, like the article mentioned Samsung makes something very similar that sells for $5-10 but with apple it sells for $30.

I was actually called to testify against a Marine who was a well known pathological liar. We all knew he was a liar he would make up stuff about working with Recon during the invasion of Iraq. Whats funny though is he would tell these stories to groups of people including people that were there with him and they would tell us all later that it was bullshit. We took everything he said with a grain of salt. It eventually came back to haunt him though. You can tell stories all you want to your fellow Marines but when you start wearing ribbons and medals you didn't earn and then try and file a claim with the VA for injuries you suffered in Iraq (that you didn't actually suffer) have no doubt that they will call in everyone you ever worked with to testify against you. I felt bad because I never wanted to testify against a Marine - no matter that he was a douche bag. However he was lying about wounds he received on a combat tour with me and I knew full well they were bullshit so when the prosecutor called me I agreed to testify at a Courts Martial. So did every other Marine they called. Once the prosecutor told his defense that he had his entire platoon lined up against him he took a plea deal so I never actually had to go to court. The take away from this story is if you are going to lie, that's fine but don't ever lie on an official statement to the government.

I also knew a female who was extremely pathological to the point I think she actually believed it. She had a "friend" killed in Iraq or Afghanistan every other week. She would come into work and be acting all bitchy and then sometime around lunch she would break down crying and come into my office and tell me another "friend" was killed in action and she was just having a terrible week and ask if she could go home early. I let her get away with it for a while because I had friends that were killed and I knew what it was like but eventually I got suspicious. I stopped letting her get away with it and suddenly became her enemy #1. After she found out that would not get her out of work she took it to the extreme and claimed a guy had sexually assaulted her. That got her out of work because that went over my head to my sympathetic female boss. I was totally hands off with that situation, suspected she was full of shit. Talked to the guy who she said did it and turns out they were having consensual sex for like 2 weeks and then one day his ex-girlfriend called while he was over at her house. He went out on the porch and talked to his ex for like an hour. The female got jealous when he said "maybe we should back off and just be friends, I'm thinking of seeing my ex again.". The very next day "he sexually assaulted me". He was cleared because there was no evidence and she changed her story to say that she didn't say no and was willing but afterwards she felt bad about it. They told her you can't withdraw consent after the fact.

Fast forward about 2 months, I was breaking up with my girlfriend. I knew this female had a crush on me, I'd known for years. She asks me out I'm like OK. I know better so I bring along another chick as a friend. We get drunk and my other friend goes to the bathroom at the restaurant and the female tells me "I'm sorry about you breaking up with your girlfriend, but I've been waiting years can it be my turn to be your girlfriend now?" I tell her I'm sorry I'm not interested, in fact I have a date with the girl I brought to dinner. She excuses herself, goes to the bathroom with the other chick and tells her that I'm a scumbag and a liar and a cheater and basically warns her off of me. We all split, I go home alone. I get a call from the other chick telling me what she said. I laugh it off, explain the situation. The other female keeps making advances, sending me texts, calling me. I end up out with the girl I was looking to date, with her and 2 other friends we get drunk. We all end up crashing at these other 2 chicks house drunk as hell. I get a phone call from the female asking me where the fuck I am and everything, I'm in no mood so I tell her off. THE VERY NEXT MONDAY - I'm in work and the sympathetic female boss bursts into my office. "You are a fucking peice of shit, I can't believe what you did I'm going to make it my mission to get you out of here, you are nothing but male scum!" I'm like get the fuck out of my office, what the fuck is going on. Turns out that the first female says I raped her on the night that she called me drunk when I was drunk. We go to court, I have a watertight alibi (3 girls I was staying with). Case dismissed. She gets transferred (says working with me is to traumatic, she relives the rape every time she sees me). I demand apology from sympathetic female boss, she refuses. I go to HR and demand they make her apologize. She does grudgingly then she gets transferred but not before leaving me with a horrible performance review that puts my promotion on hold for 5 whole years. I finally got promoted now but had to go through all of that over a pathological liar.

I think everyone has one of those kids they know growing up who is just a pathological liar.

I also think everyone goes through a stage when they are kids where they just can't tell the truth to save their lives. I can think of a thousand and one whoppers I told my friends as a kid. I justified it to my self as "story telling" because to me it was the same as creative writing on the fly. I love to tell stories, when I was a kid I didn't have any stories to tell yet because I had not lived.

I grew out of it around age 14, the first time being called out for my bullshit was embarrassing as all hell. My good friend asked my dad about one of the stories I had made up and my dad was like "I don't know what the fuck you are talking about" It was SO embarrassing to have my dad call me a liar in front of my friend.

I started basically living to acquire stories and experience, mission accomplished. I now have a thousand and one true stories, I've been to 25 countries, in combat in Iraq, at sea for long periods of time, I've eaten the strangest things. Been molested by a fat chick in an Orange County night club and a hooker from Ghana in a night club in Greece. I've seen algae light up the ocean so you can't tell when the stars in the sky stop and the ocean begins. I've been shot at, wounded in combat - returned to live in the middle east in peace this time for a whole year just to make peace with it all. I've been in forests, mountains and deserts and even in tundra.

When I think about it, I just wanted to be someone the other kids looked up to when I was a kid so I would make up stories about the places I'd been. I still have the same desire as an adult but instead of making up the stories I just never pass up an opportunity actually make it happen - and anyways real life is always much crazier than anything I could think of on my own.

Also I think it is important to note that African Americans have traditionally been one of the more violent and vocal groups against homosexuality in America. I've heard more old black women use the term faggot in a hurtful way then I've ever heard the stereotypical white Christian male use it.

I can't quote the source because I can't find it but I've heard that the majority of American bandwidth is reserved for hosting and that the consumers actually get very little of it. They charge us to maintain their infrastructure while giving us a very small piece of the pie. Wish I could find that article now.

The saddest part is I remember back in 1999 in Seattle at the peak of the dot-com craze my father had a T3 line installed in the house, it was a service offered in the area I lived in because it was a very tech industry heavy area. After the dot-com crash right before I left the area in early 2003 the internet prices tripled and speeds dropped considerably. I've never had internet that fast since - and that was more than 10 years ago.

Man, I got crucified on reddit for posting in support of Zimmerman just a month ago. Oh how fickle you are reddit - when I said wait for all the facts to come out I was called a racist. When I spoke out against Spike Lee I was downvoted relentlessly.

Now that the lynch mob is over and the facts are out everyone conveniently forgets the fact they were raging against Zimmerman and anyone who supported him.

Please, please reddit. Learn from this - always wait for the facts before going off half cocked on your witch hunts. Part of me knows that will never happen, that part of me is sad.
