Oracle 7 migration ? by krikulisin sysadmin

Oracle 7 requires glibc 2.0 and max kernel 2.4 due threading changes . All application is horribly outdated and undocumented, so I am hoping to shove it in VM behind firewall and rock

Varnish doesnt send host, or apache cant resolve it correctly by lsv20in linuxadmin

[–]krikulis 2 points3 points ago

Apache determines host from HTTP host header. Varnish does not automagically add Host header when you are using hostname as backend host . Little bit of VCL magic and you're cool.

if (req.http.host ~ "^(www.)?example.com$") {
    if (req.url ~ "^/skin/.*" || req.url ~ "^/media/.*") {
        set req.backend = static;
        set req.http.Host = "www.example.com"
    } else {
        set req.backend = localhost;
    }
}

If I understand correctly, USB plug has been broken off. You will probably need some soldering to reattach to PCB. It's probably cheaper to buy new USB flash if nothing valuable was on it. Btw, how did you manage to break USB plug, considering that it retactable ?

Can someone who masturbates once or more daily and suddenly stops go through masturbation withdrawal? by FrequentMasturbatorin AskReddit

Yes. It's called getting a girlfriend. At least when I met my current SO, my previous "Forever alone fap fap fap" mode changed to "Le sexytime all the time" and left no time to fap.

What the hell is going on with AirBaltic? by drakeisatoolin latvia

[–]krikulis 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

AirBaltic is portrayed as "bad guys" both by Latvian government and latvian media because: - it is associated with (former) minister and enterpreur Ainārs Šlesers, who is widely acknowledged as oligarch. - it is only government owned company, which does not employ people associated with current coalition. - one quater of it is owned by offshore, whose beneficiary is some russian "bussiness man", but many people are considering Antonov, owner of Snoras bank, true beneficiary .

Short situation: company needs more funding. considering it has about 500 000 LVL in capital stock, request is reasonable. Goverment is stalling to take any decision.

I always wonder why I prefer to sleep on outer side of bed. I believe that I am either trying to protect my SO from velociraptors wandering around at night or ensuring that I run away more quickly in case of velociraptor attack.

Can someone familiar with virtualization answer a few questions for me..switched jobs and I can't figure out why this new place would even bother with virtualization. by fizzywigin sysadmin

[–]krikulis 13 points14 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

hardware can change, die, need upgraded etc ... also time to time, need of short lived small VM can arise (or copy of production system to test some stuff).

With virtualization you can just put image on new hypervisor and not worry about reinstallation / reconfiguration etc. Server h/w died ... install hypervisor, add VM image from backup ... profit Need more h/w power ... Install hypervisor, migrate VM from old hypervisor ... profit Wan't to experiment with some upgrades , new stuff .. Copy VM and play. No need to reinstall all software stack.
