I agree with you, but what if FACIAL appearance wasn't the issue? This scenario is not limited to transgenders, as people's appearances CAN change (especially children and teenagers). Don't you think the definition of "the passenger does not appear to be of the gender indicated on the identification he or she presents" could be expanded to address transgenders who obviously can't define themselves as male or female?

You can't even begin to compare actually. Your RRSP contribution is capped off at 18% of your annual income. When your employer helps you, its contribution is deducted from your contribution room, leaving you with less ability to forgo taxation on your income.

In the MP scenario, the individual is contributing to the RRSP cap. Then the matching happens OVER AND ABOVE. If you and your employer could do that, you would have a LOT more tax free income.

Great post. When I first saw this story, I thought the 5.80 to 1 contribution matching (like its supposed to be) was a bit ridiculous, but reasonable enough. However, the incredibly insane interest rate that is driving up the pension matching to 23.30 to 1 is over the top. It is not fair to rely on taxpayers to ensure you get ludicrous "returns" like that.
