Clearly we disagree and if your not prepared to provide more basis for your argument I think we may as well end it here.

But the police didn't know that they were collecting it illegally, were acting in good faith and were caught out on a technicality. Corruption implies a deliberate action which was known to be wrong when committing it.

Dont read this as me being condescending.

Do you understand why it was declared illegal? Could you explain why it indicates corruption?

No. Id say that not allowing it would actually be very American.

Personally I dont have a problem with the decision made by the supreme court. It was illegal because of a technicality in the Law and I would rather that people were brought to trial than let of on a technicality. The Law is applied more rationally in New Zealand than the US.

I like the notion of the ad, we need an 'it gets better' type campaign in New Zealand. I just don't think they quite pulled it off.

Looking to come over on a working holiday visa, help me make a few decisions please. by Jaraxoin newzealand

[–]kezzaNZ 2 points3 points ago

How easy is the kind of work I'd be allowed to do to get? - You can do anything you want but I can almost garuntee your going to end up working in hospitality or a call centre with your degree.

How expensive are living costs and accommodation? Depends where your living. If your in Auckland, $350 might cover 3 weeks rent for a room in a flat. If your in Christchurch you'd probably be able to find a room for $80-$100 a week. Start out in a backpackers and look for a flat on trademe.co.nz

How hard is it to find permanent work and thus get a permanent work visa? Your right in that its going to be very difficult to find anything with your degree. You could find permanent work but fuck knows what it will be.

Most people who do a year here from the UK save as much as they can before they leave, find some fun easy work like in hospo, and work a few months then quit the job and move to another city or spend a few months travelling and repeat and see as much of the country as you can inbetween.

The New Zealand Herald, do Kiwis enjoy how large the physical newspaper is? I find very clumsy and awkward to read. by kensai11in newzealand

[–]kezzaNZ 1 point2 points ago

I'm not a massive fan of some of reporting in the Herald or its general right leaning stance, however if we hold it up to the stalwarts of tabloid journalism I would say it pales in comparison.

[–]kezzaNZ 11 points12 points ago

No I hate it. The Herald on Sunday is a perfect size and theres nothing better than a nice latte and slow read of the paper on a hung over Sunday.

There has been concern that making the NZH a smaller 'tabloid' size will bring with it tabloid journalism. I dont think this needs to be the case at all, the Herald on Sunday is a perfect example of this.

Reduce the fucker and ill buy it more.

Thinking about moving from Ireland to NZ. Any one have any advice at all? by gadzookeysin newzealand

[–]kezzaNZ 0 points1 point ago

Apologies. I just did some calculations for the north island, looking at the population of the schools (instead of number to make it more accurate), 79% of integrated schools are catholic or marist brothers/diocesan sisters (whom are catholic)

Either way its the vast majority and still a sufficient explanation in the original context. Any really, who gives a fuck.
