Wife told me 5 hours ago that she is pregnant for the first time. Should I be doing anything now? by jwarpin daddit

Sleep.

And if you have any hobbies... do them a lot for the next 6 months.

The one issue I see with holes and fans is the circulation between shelves. Its not air tight, but there isn't much clearance with the door closed - you would almost need holes / fans on each level to get good airflow.

Exaclty - I put some bracing on the back - just a couple of strips of 1x1 (what I had sitting around) at a 45 degree angle. Its not as strong as it was with the back, but fine for holding a few components and sitting in the corner.

The door doesn't sit perfectly square anymore... but not noticeable unless you're looking for it.

I use the same cabinet for audio/video - I just took the back off and made sure each component had some clearance around it. Also, whenever possible I staggered items left to right on each shelf to reduce heat from rising right in to another component.

We at one time were battling some tough diaper rash... we had an arsenal of both diaper creams and powders. We called the powder "sugar" and would ask my son "cream or sugar?"

Connecting an iPad to a classroom projector wirelessly, technical question. by antitonalin apple

[–]kcb2 1 point2 points ago

AppleTV can do it out of the box with AirPlay. If your projector has HDMI, then you don't need anything other than an HDMI cable. If it has DVI, get an HDMI-to-DVI cable or adapter. If you only have VGA, you could use an HDMI->DVI adapter, then a DVI->VGA adapter, but I wouldn't be surprised if this has issues.

AppleTV won't be Android compatible.

I have tried multiple routers over the past years and they all suck. What router should i get? by Shurikanein hardware

[–]kcb2 0 points1 point ago

I've had OK luck with an Apple Airport Extreme, though its not the biggest bang for your buck. I've had a Linksys WRT54G running DD-WRT in the past as well, only had to power-cycle it every 4-6 months, which in my experience is pretty good. I currently have a Netgear N300 (part of the samknows.com program) and have been pretty pleased with - and it was free!.

Everything mentioned above has always been plugged into a UPS - this regulates the power and keeps me up and running during power outages (especially handy during those 2-3 second blips during the occasional storm).

Unlocking iPhone through AT&T without Account, can anyone do it for me? (Not eligible from another country) by Jetersonin iphone

[–]kcb2 0 points1 point ago

Anybody know if you can get AT&T to unlock if your a previous customer? I don't see any valid reason why AT&T wouldn't do this, other than they are greedy bastards and don't want to waste a rep's 5 minutes of time to help a non-current customer.

Hey /r/Michigan, after I graduate this May, I will be working full-time in Auburn Hills, MI starting in July. Can you give me guidance on finding a place to live? by spetstnelisin Michigan

[–]kcb2 1 point2 points ago

I will suggest a few things based on working in Auburn Hills for ~12 years and living in the area all my life. Sorry for the length...

  • As banksnld mentioned, the further away from Pontiac you can live, the better. Its in financial meltdown and crime is high.
  • If you are thinking you will be around for a few years but not sure if longer, rent! The housing market is great for buyers, but you may end up upside-down on your house within a year or two. If the job goes south or you find something better, you're stuck with a house you can't sell for what you owe.
  • Downtown areas generally have a younger or more hip crowd. Royal Oak or Ferndale will have a great nightlife, but the drive will be ~30 min or more depending on traffic. Downtown Rochester is a good compromise as you get pockets of college age folks and bars within walking distance, tho they are not as "hip". Downtown Lake Orion or Oxford is nice, but more families and even less "hip" and a little more traffic on the way in.
  • There are lots of houses for rent in the area if you are looking to stay out of an apartment. Having a yard to entertain and avoiding neighbors getting a little upset over noise is nice. The budget is a little higher for a house, but worth it in my opinion. (Not to mention I have a house for rent in Clarkston /shameless_plug)
  • If you look in Auburn Hills or nearby for houses or apartments, be very selective. The proximity to Pontiac and Oakland University can often lead to people who just don't care about their neighborhood (short term renters, evictions, broken down cars, people congregating in the streets).

As for the date format, I feel the "US" version to actually make more sense...

Its not too late to break this infatuation with Oso...

I can't help you with your issue, but that show was one of the worst we would watch before getting rid of cable and switching to Netflix. "Special" agent is so fitting...

One Time Cookies (OTC): Preventing Session Hijacking Attacks with Stateless Authentication Tokens by idgtin netsec

[–]kcb2 0 points1 point ago

I guess I'm still struggling to see what this actually protects against then. If the unique token is provided on request, when/where is it validated?

If you are using session cookies over an HTTPS connection, the cookie is encrypted in transit and never stored on disk, only in memory. If OTC isn't meant to protect against XSS or malware, what gap is it filling?

One Time Cookies (OTC): Preventing Session Hijacking Attacks with Stateless Authentication Tokens by idgtin netsec

[–]kcb2 0 points1 point ago

How does the malware steal a session cookie? its only stored in memory, never on the disk. If a "secure" application is storing session credentials in a persistent cookie, that's problem #1.

One Time Cookies (OTC): Preventing Session Hijacking Attacks with Stateless Authentication Tokens by idgtin netsec

[–]kcb2 0 points1 point ago

Key logger doesn't do any good if the application is using 2-factor authentication. If a valid 2-factor authenticated session is available, this is where using malware comes in to play.

One Time Cookies (OTC): Preventing Session Hijacking Attacks with Stateless Authentication Tokens by idgtin netsec

[–]kcb2 0 points1 point ago

simply tying sessions to IP addresses should prevent most uncontrived session hijacking via XSS scenarios.

Session hijacking can be done with malware on the original (valid) user's PC. The malware is remote controlled via the "bad guy" or is set to run a script.

One Time Cookies (OTC): Preventing Session Hijacking Attacks with Stateless Authentication Tokens by idgtin netsec

[–]kcb2 0 points1 point ago

So kinda like session cookies on steroids?

I see a few issues, not sure if I am misunderstanding, didn't read enough, am not knowledgeable enough, or have valid concerns...

  • What about requests that need to be re-transmitted? If my page doesn't load properly and I have to refresh, is my whole session screwed? (scenario of my request makes it to your server, but response doesn't make it back. I refresh.)
  • New tabs and browser back buttons would also not work. This happens in a lot of sites today, but at worst you lose your flow in the application, you don't lose your entire session.
  • How does this work with AJAX?
  • What about your image, .js, .css gets? Do they use the same OTC token?

I relate it to a great steak (BJ) or pizza (sex) - they're both good, but steak is better because I don't get it that often. But if I had steak more often it wouldn't be as good.

Best upgrade yet on my 2009 Macbook Pro - duel SSD/HDD setup. Amazing results and super easy! by ridgelawrencein apple

[–]kcb2 0 points1 point ago

What was the overall cost? (if you don't mind me asking) I have thought about this too (have a mid 2009 MBPro as well), but can't justify putting in the money on a near 3 year old machine, especially with the rumored 15" Air/Pro around the corner.

When I last priced it out , buying a decent sized SSD (not sure 128gb would suffice) and the brackets to move the HDD, I would be putting in almost a third of the cost of a current 13" MacBook Air. SSD prices have come down a little, but still a pricey upgrade in my opinion.

All right Reddit, what is the worst thing you've ever done in a dream? I'll start. by CptMalReynoldsin AskReddit

What's your worst "oh shit, I just did/said that in front of a kid" moment? by LumpyDogin AskReddit

I was at a family (in-laws) picnic and was off playing horse-shoes with some other boyfriends/husbands that were dragged there. We're just shooting the breeze and I drop an f-bomb right as my wife's 6-year old niece walks up, hears me, and immediately goes off to tell her dad. Of course her dad is the most religious and conservative guy in the family...
