Places to slide...? by twitchy775in longboarding

Currently living in Indiana, but I'm from the NW burbs too, Arlington Heights. If you find any places in that area let me know.

Yeah I was definitely camping with the guy with the Nevada this past weekend. Kinda weird to see crossover.

I freaking love it. Nothing like busting your ass for hours on end, and at the end of your shift, being able to take home a fat wad of cash. :]

I held a meeting for my club in the Jedi Council Chamber once...a janitor kicked us out about 10 minutes into it, but it was awesome.

Flexiest longboard you've riddden? by KittenMan8900in longboarding

[–]karlamorgan 1 point2 points ago

I ride a Loaded Vanguard Flex 5! The flex is unreal. You can bounce on it like a trampoline. I have a friend who is probably around 300 pounds and he can bounce on it without it breaking. Works great for cruising and carving, but from what I've heard, it's not the greatest to slide with.

Question about taking away a cutter's sharp objects by Slyfox00in StopSelfHarm

[–]karlamorgan 2 points3 points ago

I see both sides of the coin here.

When I first told a friend of mine that I was cutting myself, he wanted to throw my knife away. But the thing is, throwing away the cutting tools will only stop the symptom, but won't cure the "disease". The anxious/depressed/borderline/etc thoughts will still be there. Plus, we can find -anything- to cut with. Months later, I threw away my razor and cutting scissors as I thought I had put my self-harm behind me. But a few weeks after throwing them away, I found myself with an overwhelming urge and used my regular scissors. Plus, everyone has fingernails and teeth that they can use to self-harm with. So, I understand the good intentions behind it, but it doesn't solve anything. IMO the tools should be thrown away once the person who self-harms is ready for it.

How did you get help? by shes_asking_for_itin depression

[–]karlamorgan 1 point2 points ago

Good for you for getting help. :] I started out with talking to friends. But they soon got overburdened, my issues got worse, I pushed them away, and ended up realizing that if I didn't get my shit together, I'd be in a dangerous place fast. I called up the psychological services at my university and found a therapist there, who I go to about bi-weekly. I'm graduating in the next two weeks, and have been doing very well lately, so I think I'm going to be done with therapy. :] Good luck, you can do it!

I met him after his show at MSU last night! Oooh, he is cute. Sweet and chill, too.

Met this ent last night after his show at MSU, and got to go in his tour bus. It smelled like the most glorious ganja you could imagine. (full story in comments) by karlamorganin trees

[–]karlamorgan[S] 2 points3 points ago

I went up to MSU last night to see Gambino with a friend of mine who goes to MSU (I'm not a student there). My friend is part of the RHA (Resident Hall Association), which sponsored the concert. After the show, the members of the RHA were all taken in groups onto Gambino's tour bus to meet him. I "snuck" in alongside my friend.

I walk up the stairs into the bus, and the smell of herb hit me like a ton of bricks. He was super chill (not surprising) and I got a hug and an autograph. I gave him a smile and told him it smelled awesome. He looked back at me, grinned and said, "I know, right? A bunch of dudes, all in one tour bus." and winked at me. I died.

We weren't allowed to get pics with him though, unfortunately.

When I was a kid I didn't understand that grandparents were the parents of my parents. I thought that kids were just assigned a random old couple to be their grandparents.

10 reasons by itsasometimesthingin StopSelfHarm

[–]karlamorgan 0 points1 point ago

  1. It makes me lie to people about where the scars come from
  2. It hurts people who care about me
  3. It's been a factor in ruining relationship with people who I care people
  4. Being worried about customers at work seeing the scars
  5. It doesn't solve anything
  6. It's a vicious circle - I'm a fuck-up, so I cut, and because I cut, I'm a fuck-up
  7. Because I'm a rational person who knows the right way to handle my emotions
  8. It only makes my problems worse
  9. Scars are permanent
  10. I'm worth more than hurting myself

I have mastered my condition... sort of. How have your scars affected your daily life? by ensunderedin StopSelfHarm

[–]karlamorgan 2 points3 points ago

I've got scars on my wrist and upper arm that are pretty noticeable at times due to my pale skin. I don't try to hide them, because I'm unashamed. I just pretend they aren't there. Sometimes I get self-conscious about them at work, but only because I'm worried about a customer complaining or something (don't know if that's even a valid worry or not).

No one really asks about them.

I know you're right but sometimes I just want to hurt (luckily though, it's a rare feeling these days).
