TROPHY CASE

So, let me get this straight. Germans rule the majority of the USA? by BrandonRagedin pics

[–]joepaulk7 0 points1 point ago

Well, they're not really German. It's ancestry. Otherwise, I'd be doing whatever it is that Scottish folk do.

Should I forgive my friend? by txampionin Christianity

Yes. You should. What gives us the right to withhold forgiveness that Christ freely gives? But forgiveness is hard.

Fair enough. If there were to be even an attempt at an explanation, would you listen?

I think salvation for many is viewed merely as fire insurance.

Mine is on Mother's Day this year, much to the chagrin of my wife.

If you had one minute to tell the world about god what would u say? by [deleted]in Christianity

[–]joepaulk7 0 points1 point ago

Im sorry then that I got that impression and I apologize. Look, I believe what I believe and you may be surprised that I don't do it blindly. Christianity has had a transformative effect on me and I would, perhaps, be able to write a book on it if I were more eloquent and others hadn't done it for me. I love science, view the Big Bang theory and evolution as fact. I enjoy all kinds of secular things and I'm even struggling with my nicotine addiction, but I BELIEVE that everything in this whole universe was given to us by God and meaning, for me, springs from the source. Do I have even a fraction of the answers? No, but I get a few more everyday. Do I struggle with thorny theological issues? Yep, but not as much as yesterday. It's not because I'm ignoring issues either, it's because I'm both learning and growing in Christ.

Hey, I'm sorry if holy rollers make you angry and irritable because they do me too. There's people in my church that make me cringe when they open their mouths because I'm certain that they don't enjoy thinking, but I have learned that belief and critical thinking aren't mutually exclusive. If I seemed holier than thou btw, I really apologize because I definitely shouldn't have done that.

Before I leave this rant, I would like to plug C.S. Lewis' Mere Christianity. It's short, but does a far better job of approaching Christianity and our place in this universe than I could.

I don't believe that my beliefs are "clearly wrong". If I did, I wouldn't believe them.

I did find a solution. I haven't found a solution for everything. I still have stumbling blocks. I'm human. That happens and I'm not going to throw my hands in the air and say that since I don't understand it now that I never will. I would have never made it through college that way or through anything else for that matter.

Whoa, calm down there. I think the OP was just posting statements made in the subreddit about atheists. You don't believe anything. It's all good.

I think many of the Reddit atheists could be considered fundamentalist evangelical atheists.

You do know that religious belief can't be totally explained through reason right? If this makes you so blasted angry, then why do you subject yourself to these posts? My mother is Buddhist and I'm not chomping at the bit in rage every time I see her. I will, however, say what I believe when asked. I also firmly believe it. You can believe whatever you want....fine. I'm just not understanding your righteous indignation.

Yes. I would.

Now that is an awesome question! You have free will to believe whatever you want, but you can find meaning in whatever you are. It still comes from God, however.

Do you simply troll around r/christianity to get angry and indignant when someone makes a profession of faith?
