Thank you so much for the reply! It's so nice to get some outside perspective. I had also never thought of being on the UofM waitlist as an honor, so that's definitely a pick-up!

In regards to asking these questions to the school, do you think it would be more beneficial to ask the program's administrative assistant or the program coordinator? My waitlist letter stated that if I were to have any questions, to contact the administrative assistant (a doctoral student in the program), but I would think E-mailing the program coordinator directly would have more of an impact on my status as an alternate, right?

yes, a 'statement of objectives' is the same as a 'statement of purpose.' it is also more commonly called a 'personal statement.'

in regards to your second question, i, personally, did not mention professors when applying for my master's, though it may depend on your field.

i would suggest you re-take the GRE if you were applying to PhD programs, but seeing as how you're only applying for your master's, you should be fine.
