I'm not saying that I don't see the value in my father's advice. I've been freelancing since high school, so I certainly know the value of a good negotiation. My concern right now is that I'd much, much rather have a job now and a job next year paying $x each than one job paying less than their combined sums now. The big problem is that these aren't technically "jobs," more paid internships at this point.
