TROPHY CASE

A report by the Sunlight Foundation revealed that the most right-wing representatives express themselves, on average, at the lowest grade level in Congress. by cometpartyin progressive

[–]intermonadicmut 0 points1 point ago

I think maybe folks aren't reading the article. The point of the article is that they are speaking at the lowest grade level, and that is a good thing (for the Republicans, at least). Dems would do well to learn how to speak to the masses without falling back on concepts and language that few identify with.

If you could use one image to define this beautiful game of college football, what it be? by hokiesAllDaWayin CFB

What gave you the impression that I meant it as a joke? That was the first thing that came to mind when Prothro came up. They show the same clip on ESPN whenever they mention him. I fail to see the big deal.

That's the image that comes to mind when I think of Prothro. I said nothing mean or rude about him--he was a great receiver. Stop channeling 2010 Auburn fans and try to contain your butthurt for a while.

2012 CFB Season Won't Include Pam Ward Or Craig James by aftertwobowlsin CFB

I used to hate him, too. He's grown on me. I like the way he always disagrees with Holtz. Also, Mark May is a legitimate college football legend. He is one of the greatest offensive linemen to ever play the game. He was a very good offensive lineman in college.

The new trick is to wait on the downside of an onramp. They're invisible until they're in your rearview mirror. Don't speed past exits, ever.

What incoming recruit for your team are you most excited to see for the 2012 season? by DevoDrigazin CFB

I think lots of those problems begin and end with the offensive line.

We haven't had any issues getting solid tailbacks. We have a seemingly neverending supply of 5 star running backs, and we've had that for a long, long time. However, for the past 5 years (since Knowshon, and even he didn't live up to all he could have been in 2008), we've had a tough time getting them to perform.

Maybe you meant something different...you are aware that both Samuel and Crowell were 5 star backs coming out of HS, right? Hell, even our RB's who transfer to other schools are 4 star recruits. Remember Carlton Thomas?

Edit: ...and don't forget about Caleb King. He was another 5,000 star, can't miss, sure-fire just-like-Herschel running back that didn't pan out.

Don't forget the Lollapalooza episode. I thought that was good. Sonic Youth stealing food from Peter Frampton's cooler was pretty awesome.

I think this is as low as they can go. That was seriously disturbing. I've defended the new episodes for as long as I can. Clearly, the show has become nothing but a vehicle for celebrities to appear and promote themselves.

Considering moving to Atlanta from the Northeast. Honestly, how's the climate? by melatonein Atlanta

[–]intermonadicmut 2 points3 points ago

I love the weather in Atlanta, have lived in New England, and this is the best description of the weather down here. There is one very important thing I haven't seen mentioned in the thread yet, however:

THERE IS SUN IN THE SOUTH. In New England, whatever the temperature is, there is NO SUN for more than 6 months a year. It completely disappears. This is made worse because it's so freakin' cold during those months that you don't get out much. So for 6 months a year, no Sun.

I recognize that this won't be an issue for OP because he/she is moving South. But for anyone making the move North, this would be a big deal. But maybe it will be a big deal for OP, too--maybe she/he will move down here and realize that she's been S.A.D. her/his entire life. For me, the cold didn't really bother me much (and the snow was pretty)--it was THE COMPLETE LACK OF SUNSHINE that crushed my soul.

Our "Winter" is a mild Autumn in New England. We really only have 2 seasons in the South: HOT and getting there.

UConn is for basketball. Otherwise, they're really horrible. It's good of you to be a fan, though.

I can't believe no Georgia fans have weighed in yet. I'll go:

Malcolm Mitchell. He's set to play both ways this year. Coming out of HS he was a top 5 cornerback. Last year he was Freshman All-SEC at WR. This year he'll do both. Champ Bailey all over again.

I also can't want to see if Jarvis Jones can break the SEC sack record and go on to win the Heisman.
