TROPHY CASE

ESPN's "way too early 2012 preseason rankings," 2nd edition. by CushCush91in CFB

[–]intermonadicmut 1 point2 points ago

This is a disaster for UGA. I was hoping for somewhere around 15-20. A top 5 ranking is way too much for those kids to handle.

So I had a strange run-in with an OU player last night, what is your best story involving players at your school? by JWalterWeatherman__in CFB

[–]intermonadicmut -1 points0 points ago

Was the fight over the fact that the shots could be considered an impermissible benefit and OU could get penalized for it?

Could you accept over signing with 4 year guaranteed scholarships? by bobosaursin CFB

[–]intermonadicmut 0 points1 point ago

Instead of putting a time limit on it, I think they should just be considered degree scholarships. I know far too many kids who didn't graduate in 4 or 5 years due to "issues". So long as they aren't committing violent crimes or failing every class and wasting resources, they should be given every opportunity to finish their degree.

Never again. I hated those so much. I don't get why our players went nuts for those things.

Ah, so now you're an internet tough guy too? Nice.

The general rule is all verbal contracts are valid contracts in all states.

I agree. I didn't say it wasn't.

Internet name calling, huh? From a Kansas fan in a college football message board?

My point is not irrelevant. It is directly relevant to what the guy said, which was that all verbal contracts are legal contracts in all states. He didn't say that all verbal contracts are common law contracts. He said that all contracts are legal contracts in all states. I took that to mean that he meant that all verbal contracts are legally enforceable in all states. That is, obviously, not true. You may interpret his statement differently from me. That does not, however, make my response to his interpretation irrelevant. Nor does it mean that I am overstating my case.

Do you always condescend like some second year law review prick or does it only happen when you talk about the law?

For college gameday lameness? For college gameday rainbows? What?

Well, at least we can still sell out home games. (Even though our fans don't necessarily show up or stay the whole game when we play Coastal Carolina or Furman...)

You changed your statement. When you did, you changed its meaning.

Your initial statement was that "a verbal agreement is a legal contract under the laws of any state in this country." If you read that to mean that a verbal contract is a contract, fine. I read it to mean that a verbal contract is enforceable in any state. The addition of the word "legal" means something. What does it mean if not enforceable at law?

But if Auburn goes to the East, Alabama would have to choose between UT and Auburn. I think that's not a bad thing, because both schools should probably let the Auburn/Alabama rivalry cool down for a while. Of course, that'd be leaving a ton of money on the table for both schools now, so it will never happen.

True, but a shorter drive is a better drive.

So you gonna make the drive from Florida to Mizzou for away games? Only 1009 miles between Gainesville, FL and Columbia, MO. College kids can get out of class on Friday, jump in the car, and a short 16 hours later, enjoy a game on Saturday. If they leave as soon as the game is over, they can get a few hours of sleep before class on Monday.

Since the beginning of this expansion thing in the SEC, I've been for WVU, for all the reasons you state. Too bad the powers that be found their academics lacking or whatever.

Also, Mizzou is not a football school. They're a horrible fit for the SEC. They're only in because they bring in a bigger tv market. And it's stupid that they're in the SEC East. What USC, UGA or UF fan is going to be able to make that road trip? WVU would have been a much better fit, and would have made for some great road games.

Y'all could probably pick up Wofford. I think they had to schedule an NAIA school next year. Tough to find an opponent who wants to waste a week preparing for the triple option spread wishbone skillet offense, I guess.

It's not good reddiquette:

Don't: Link with TinyURL or similar services. There are few reasons to hide what you're linking to, and most of them are sneaky.

But since blogs are regularly posted here, it may not really be applicable. It becomes a problem when someone constantly posts links to their blog for marketing purposes. That isn't the case here, but it's still not a good practice.
