I feel kind of bad watching this kid's videos. If you watch them all, it's pretty clear that he's very sincere in all of this, and he's put a lot of effort into it. The animation's pretty darn good, too.

But I get the impression that he is basically reading everything in the "paranormal" section of the library and accepting all of it unquestioningly as fact. There's a fair bit of interesting stuff in these videos but they take a hard left into "crystal dragon Jesus" territory really quick.

He seems like a smart kid who needs to apply a lot more skepticism to the things he's reading. Demand a source, ask the people who say they "know" these things how they know them.

I really do love this podcast, I've been listening for a while. I take everything on it with a huge grain of salt, but it makes for an excellent listen.

He releases them consistently, too, which is...something of a rarity with this sort of thing. Icing on the cake.

Took me a while to figure out, too. Basically, it goes like this:

Add whatever shader you want (diffuse, glossy, etc.). Click on the button by "color" to bring up the textures menu. Select image texture and search for the image you want to use like you would with blender internal.

Now, you should have a solid color that's the average of the colors in the image. To actually show the image, you need to select the "vector" box and choose one of the options. If the image is not UV unwrapped, "object" or "generated" will do. If it is, select "UV".

Now, to actually adjust the image, you have to use the nodes. I don't know how familiar you are with nodes (I'm a relative beginner with them myself), but this will actually allow you a lot of flexibility.

Yes, it's overly complicated, which I will chalk up to cycles still being in an experimental phase. I'm not sure if I explained that well enough, so let me know if that was totally unclear.

Gaslighting is where you try to convince someone that they are crazy by alteringg their environment in subtle ways. For example, taking their keys. They'll say "I know I left my keys right here!". Then, when they go look elsewhere, you put the keys back and they find them right where they already looked.

Continually doing things like this will supposedly cause the person to question their own sanity. It's a fairly standard tactic of abusive relationships; make the person think that they can't trust themselves, and they will have to rely on you. If I recall, this is also known as "crazy-making".

The term itself takes its name from the play "Gas Light", where a similar ploy factors into the plot.

Gotta admit, that was some of the best Gmod animation I've seen. Usually it looks awfully clunky and horrendously done, but that was...rather good.

That said, I'm really, really, really tired of the big-head thing. I've seen it in every goddamn Gmod movie, and it's just so frickin' tiresome. Just a pet peeve, I suppose, but it really brought down an otherwise enjoyable animation for me.

There were many, many trainers older than the PC in Pokemon. Just look at all the scientists, bikers, sailors, fishermen, etc. you had to fight.
