West Lafayette needs more culture, not frozen yogurt. (5 ice cream shops opened in last 4 years) by imapirate375in Purdue

Don't feed the troll, his purpose is to complain for the sake of complaining.

"PSG isn't allowed to work with booking agents..."

This is 100% true and is an outrageous hurdle to overcome, but I am not sure if it is well known. I am ignorant of all other details, but unless this glaring problem is addressed I don't see any feasible solution that would fix our lack of big names at decent rates.

We should start with selling out Elliott first and maybe not having our biggest draws during dead week? I'm just spitballing because we've had many conversations about this. A concert moratorium story is also in the works (aka why is IU so much better at hosting big names?)

Avicii Concert Preview Story: "Abby Eddy, director of marketing for Purdue Convocations, said 2100 of the 6000 plus seats have been filled so far."

Concert Review: "Of the 6,000 seats in Elliott, only about a third were filled during the show."

Excellent catch. I was wondering the same thing.

Students need to be more proactive when it comes to new development proposals near campus. (Otherwise solely retirees and developers will continue to speak for them) by imapirate375in Purdue

So why don't I post three or more stories here every day? Do you think I posted these at random? If you actually read the editoral which your comment indicates you haven't, you'll notice there is a call to action for students to pay more attention to local city politics and development.

If you have a problem with the frequency of my posts or the fact that I am posting any at all then I suggest you contact the admins because I have posted stories with their permission.

I called it in the newsroom this morning. It was a complete accident.

Here's a list of highest to lowest paying majors. There's an $80,000 difference between them. by imapirate375in Purdue

Your interpretation of the word is the point of my question. Apologies, but considering that I write for The Exponent, giving my opinion in this context would be unprofessional. The reason I post these stories is solely for reactions so that we may write more interesting stories the next time around.

Do you think the pay is appropriate according to each major?

Mike Huckabee takes aim at Rush Limbaugh, launches noon-to-3 p.m. radio program on almost 200 stations across the country. "Our tagline is, ‘More conversation, less confrontation’; I'm going to treat every guest with respect and civility," Huckabee told POLITICO. by Suraj-Sunin politics

"I'm going to treat every guest with respect and civility."

Too bad progressive talkers like Thom Hartmann and Norman Goldman already do this every night. Hacks like Limbaugh, Hannity and now this shill always make headlines for saying really hateful, unfounded bullshit which only accomplishes one thing, driving wedges between people who otherwise would have nothing against each other. Huckabee contributes nothing positive to the national dialogue.

"Boilermaker values"? by karlamorganin Purdue

We don't need a flamewar. Look at it from perspective of the editorial board. If someone from the community submits a letter such as this one, and trust me there have been far more offensive letters than this, why would we sit on it? We want people in the community to pick up the paper and talk about what's in it. It is by no means arbitrary. We simply want the newspaper to be an informative, conversation piece. Letters to the editor, even ones that can be considered offensive, undeniably get people talking about the issue.

International (err, Canadian) Student Incoming by Auto_Optimusin Purdue

If you are studying Comms (or anything else), join the purdueexponent.org. We are entirely independent of Purdue University, and it will look awesome on job applications. You learn almost everything there is to learn about Purdue when you work here. This paper is over 100 years old so you run into a nice group of veteran journalists (even though Purdue has no official journalism school or major) to talk to.

Edit: and you get paid...

You would be amazed what a short email or phone call to our newsroom would do for a relevant, student-made project.
