This is chipboard. It's very similar to the back side of a notebook. As far as I know, it's just a bunch of recycled paper pressed together. You can paint it (although it looks like crap), but anything moist will make it bow up. You can buy it at pretty much any craft store. Comes in multiple thicknesses. I used 1-ply in this model.

I've never heard a proper name, I don't believe. We call them presentation models. This one in particular is strictly one-ply chipboard and basswood (not balsa) sticks- 1/32x1/32 & 1/32x1/16.

Making them is as easy as you can see in the video. I used an olfa knife (and sometimes xacto) to cut the chipboard and tacky glue to glue them together.

I'll have a small laptop on the side that will play the video. We're supposed to have a lot of "process" information along with our final product, so this is to be a part of that section.
