Say there is a Hell. What is your idea of eternal damnation? by jesuswigin AskReddit

Totally doable and tasty. Alternative: a delicate mixture sour cream and cream cheese. Two things I actually despise normally.

I do it partially because I'm running a Core 2 Duo 2.1Ghz with 4GB and an 8800GTS, but primarily because I want the frame rates and visibility. Shit still looks great though.

Diablo III Post Launch Update by B1ackMagixin Diablo

I've found everything up to 300ms to be playable. Anywhere about that starts getting dicey. I only play my hardcore character between 1-4am CST in the morning if I'm not running with friends on the normal character.

EDIT: I did have a dream that I had a lag spike with my hardcore character this morning. Too much Diablo.

If you were put in charge of trimming Earth's human population down to 3 billion or so, what would your criteria be for who stays and who goes? by Clayburnin AskReddit

[–]icaaryal 6 points7 points ago

We'd be lucky to pull off 10,000 which isn't a bad number. This is why my idea is centered around taking bodies out of the equation and just hooking up brains to blood/nutrient/oxygen systems and putting them in a "matrix" type environment. It will take a lot less space and overall resources and is probably more practical than maintaining/insuring the integrity of 10,000 full-bodied humans. I figure that will be possible before space travel so at least that part of it is looking up.

What's the biggest non-sexual benefit of having a girlfriend/boyfriend? by littlebalooneyin AskReddit

[–]icaaryal 5 points6 points ago

Get the pitchforks! But seriously, we've known each other for 12 years and have been very close friends for 7 or so. You could say I was friend-zoned but that attaches a negative connotation that is primarily associated with the attitude one has towards the situation. The relationship itself (platonic as it may be) is extremely important to both of us. So I don't really care whether or not it ever becomes a romantic thing. It's a good thing to have.

Its funny. I do this for my best friend (opposite sex) but we aren't in a romantic relationship. I like having someone to do it for. It's therapeutic for both parties IMO.

Bashiok on class balance by Anve94in Diablo

They've also stated that they intend to change the way skills are tuned for PvP. They can do that with an arena set up and it's a lot easier to tweak/nerf individual skills when their PvE attributes are independent of their PvP attributes.

I think the people who talk as if the wasps aren't a problem haven't actually spent 2-3 minutes chasing down one fucking wasp as a melee class while dodging the rest of them.

[–]icaaryal 1 point2 points ago

I'm only in A2 Nightmare but your strategy is exactly what I'm doing. I've selected all +dodge skills/abilities/runes, 5 second spirit gen buff with the heal, the fastest weapon I can get to take advantage of that 5 seconds, and a shield. Between chaining cyclone and mantra of evasion when possible, i'm not really getting hit very frequently. Plague/arcane/desecrator/molten are the things I worry about. Mass groups of mobs aren't scary unless they have those affixes. Also, +150% knockback roundhouse is kinda mandatory unless you want to swap it for tempest rush which I am considering at this point since it seems to work super well with Transcendence. Roundhouse works better for dealing with firechains though.

You don't need a lot of spirit regen gear. What you need is +attack speed and, optionally use Breath of Heaven + Infused with Light for a boost.

[–]icaaryal 1 point2 points ago

I lean towards using the dodge rune for cyclone strike since, combined with MoE, and Fist of Thunder runed for dodge, for at least 3 seconds, I'm at 90% dodge. Better to not get hit than to have to heal through the damage.

What myths about health/body are people the most stubborn about holding on too, despite the lack of any evidence to support them? by BriMcCin AskReddit

Highs and lows last weeks/months.

Depends on the flavor of bipolar. The big point is that the highs and lows aren't happy and sad like people think of being happy and sad. At the extremes its more like delusional psychosis and crippling, suicidal depression.

What "amazing fact" or colloquialism do you know is actually wrong, and you're sick of correcting people about it? by TestZeroin AskReddit

[–]icaaryal 0 points1 point ago

So, watching the first video it was pretty clear to me at the end, seeing it in slow motion showed how it worked.

A wheel that is moving tends to want to stay moving that direction. So we give the bike a good running start to get that physical principle going. Next, when the bike tends to the left, the wheel turns left and it makes the bike swing back to the right and, subsequently, the wheel goes back to being straight. The bike will stay up because it just does this back and forth.

When you go to turn while riding a bike/motorcyle, you actually initiate a right turn by very slightly turning the wheel left so that you get the bike to lean in the direction of the turn (right) since you need the center of gravity of you and the bike to be lower and on that side so as not to fall over.

So I was wrong, but it's still pretty simple. Every time the bike starts to go one way, the wheels turn slightly in that direction which puts the opposite force necessary to keep the bike upright.

Gyroscopic effects

This is not that difficult.

If you remove that gyroscopic effect of a bicycle in motion, that thing is basically only going to balance once you line up the center of gravity perfectly which is obviously very difficulty on a round platform such as that provided by a tire.
