TROPHY CASE

I'm finally satisfied with my layout by chapsgonewildin jailbreak

[–]hiflyer780 1 point2 points ago

Easiest way that I have found is through a tweak called SBSettings. If you don't have it yet, get it. It's almost an essential tweak. From the SBSettings drop down menu, you can boot into safe mode. This disables almost all tweaks installed through Cydia so if something goes wrong, you can change it in safe mode. It's a very similar idea to the way Window's safe mode works, and as far as I know, that is the intention of iPhone's Safe Mode as well.

Just to let you know, I used to have a very similar setup. I really liked it, but for whatever reason, updating apps through the app store almost always caused my phone to crash and go into safe mode. It might have been two tweaks conflicting with each other, but just in case it wasn't, don't update your apps if you plan on using your phone for something important while doing it. Either that, or update in safe mode.

I hope all works out well for you and I might have just had a fluke, but I just thought I'd give you a heads up! You might not experience any of these issues.

Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 5.1 released, but for a price. Pod2g calls it a "sucking solution". by marqattackin jailbreak

Ha believe me, I appreciate all the work pod2g has put into their jailbreaks. I would never purchase this or even consider using it. Even if I did torrent it.

Ha you'd think that they would consider this before charging money. I mean, this could easily be on every file hosting site and torrent site everywhere!

Couldn't the jail breaking program be released on a torrent site?

This does look pretty nice! My iPhone only has the Ghost Armor on it so I don't think I'll have to worry about the case. But I'll definitely consider this one. Thanks!

Thanks! I'll give it a shot. I'm getting an SSD shipped in soon, so I figured I'd push the top performance I possibly could out of it.

Thank you so much! Putting in custom icons is something I've always had trouble with!

True. I take risks between $1-$3. Anything above that I do some research online (or ask /r/iphone) about their opinion on an app.

So tweaks are packaged in .deb packages?

Hmm a patent for a purchasing method? Ha I guess I should have thought of that. But doesn't android have one click purchases? And thanks for clearing up the reason why we have to sign in. I didn't think about security as much as convenience.

Ah makes sense! So would these third party package installers pull from the same sources cydia does?

Umm... No specifics, it just doesn't feel user-friendly to me. To be honest, I can't think of many specific ways to improve the process other than maybe making it similar to the AppStore. Enter in your credit information once, and establish a 'buy now' button. After a password is entered, voila! A new tweak. I hate having to sign into Google every time I want to make a purchase. I understand that there are legitimate reasons for doing this that are beyond me, but I just feel like there has to be a more streamlined way of doing it.

Don't get me wrong though. For being a completely user-driven community, it amazes me how vast Cydia and the jailbreak community as a whole is in the first place.

By the way, I appreciate you not removing my rant about Installous. I know I was flirting with the 'No Talk of Piracy' rule.

Yeah, I might have been just a bit over dramatic about it... Ha but I just did not like the process of downloading them. I felt that I'd rather just pay the dollar to get it right to my phone then spending 5+ minutes to get a cracked app... First world problems are always haunting me.

Alright, I'm pretty new to jailbreaking. So I have to ask, how would you even go about getting a package installer like this? Jailbreak programs like RedSn0w load Cydia as a default don't they?

[–]hiflyer780 10 points11 points ago

The thing is, Installous is shit. I won't lie, I've used it. But I would rather pay the money for the convenience. Having cracked apps sucks because you can't update through the app store, so you have to shuffle through like 6 dead links on Installous to find one that might work. Once you finally find it, you have to enter in like 6 capachas, and it seems like a day later there's an update and you have to do it all over again. All that to save a dollar or two? No thanks. I paid $300 for this iPhone. I can afford a couple bucks for some good apps.

I've also tried cracked tweaks too. They slowed my phone down to shit, and one of them even had piracy detection that was terribly annoying. So, in the end, I justified paying the minimal money needed for the tweaks. I also came to realize that I wouldn't enjoy my phone half as much without these tweaks, so paying a few extra bucks was well worth it for me. I have to say though, I do wish Cydia was just a little more user friendly when it came to buying tweaks. It just seems like there are a lot of steps or it never works quite right.
