Q87.7 FM....really? by bhsuarezin chicago

[–]gusbustafunk 3 points4 points ago

I don't understand this at all. Whenever i turn it on in the car there is something playing that i've never heard on any other chicago radio station.

it's awesome. listen to it every time i'm in the car now. they play lots of stuff you would not hear on any other station, which is refreshing. was in the car last weekend and it was all reggae, it was the shit.

haters gonna hate.

That's my friend Buck. He plays bass and sings.

This is actually the cover to their new album titled The Party.

Here is a recent interview with the band.

If you had to suddenly up and move away from Chicago and out of the mid-west, what would be the one thing you would miss the most? by Mr_Ballyhooin chicago

I wish I could pick Chicago up and move it somewhere else.

I've said that same thing many times.

Being in the studio is one of the most fun times you have with your band. (image of my kit) by superdrummerfulin drums

[–]gusbustafunk 1 point2 points ago

i have mixed feelings. i love putting out new music, but i like playing live and writing more than recording. i am way to hard on myself. i have never recorded one drum part in my 25 years of playing and walked away completely satisfied. i always feel like i compromise perfection in the name of just getting my parts done. by perfection i mean, i want the recording to reflect exactly what i hear in my head from the very beginning to the very end of the song.

consequently, my bandmates recently opened their own studio, so now our rehearsal space is our studio. which is cool, because we can write a new song, play it a few times, open up Logic and press record and boom we have a demo to listen to on our ipods. go back to practice next time and touch it up.

that is fun. i just don't find it fun when it's recording "for real", if you will.

ahhh who am i kidding...as long as i'm playing music it's good times.

cheers!

I would highly recommend The Riv. I respectfully disagree with the people who hold Lincoln Hall in such high regard as far as sound goes.

I saw Cake at the Riv last April and honestly I have never heard a more perfectly acceptable live show (live bands I mean, not electronic music).

I am also a big fan of Beat Kitchen, because you will see some good local acts on a great soundsystem for a smaller venue.

Yep, that moment when you know there's no turning back and think "this is going to be interesting."

Would be awesome if you could make it out to Cobra Lounge on June 9th. We are having a co record release party with my band About The Mess, the guys we recorded our split 7" with called Seized Up, and another group who put their record out on our label called The Wanton Looks.

4 bands and it's going to be a party all night. Lots of stuff for you to document photgraphically.

Also, shameless promo of our new video

You went out of your way to make and post a picture to a website that is arguably the Internets biggest time waster, in a subreddit that is INARGUABLY nothing but a time waster, complaining that people are wasting your time while you waste your time.

We live in a strange world.

why come for the downvotes? we wrote and produced the music and had and worked with a videographer to make the video.

sorry it's not dubstep, i guess.

I think you missed the point entirely. I don't live in Wicker Park, and if I did, that would not be the basis for my contention that Wicker Park is not in fact the West side of Chicago.

Right. By that dude's logic, Harold Washington Library is on the south side lol

Technicalities aside, if you tell someone you live on the west side of Chicago, and it is later discovered you live in Wicker Park, you will be laughed at.

[–]gusbustafunk 10 points11 points ago

That is a really silly way to justify saying Wicker Park is the West Side of Chicago.

If you're not West of Humboldt Park, I dunno, maybe Kedzie, you are not even near the actual West side of Chicago.

Yeah, I know, every time the Bulls are on TV they say "Welcome to the West side of Chicago." That is also bullshit.
