Video i foun of some of the funnier bits of F1. I sure am glad Montoya isn't in F1 anymore by TheBrownSalamanderin formula1

I always cringe at the interview where the Aussie reporter (I believe it's one of the Chaser guys - a parody crew) does the whole Juan/one thing. Wordplay based on someone's foreign name is pretty low brow stuff.

I find it difficult to like Kimi Raikkonen, help me understand. by oh84sin formula1

[–]gruso 10 points11 points ago

You see glimpses of the real Kimi when he's not being stared down by the press. Watch for him in the background of shots, particularly after a GP. He is warm and friendly with drivers and team members (from any team). He jokes, smiles and is quite tactile - hand shakes, back pats etc. When he's not facing an interviewer, he seems very relaxed and approachable.

We saw a great example of this at the last GP, but this time it was on the podium - when Kimi and Fernando lifted Pastor in celebration.

Dear downvoters and LMFGTFY people: There is nothing wrong with asking this question here. Yeah you can just google it, but it raising it directly with F1 fans in here can lead to good discussion and more interesting info. We should be encouraging discussion at all levels in here, not telling people to go elsewhere...

It's a bad game and it should feel bad. But I have to admit, I am keen to see what their spin on F1 will be...

Awesome, but such a tiny first batch. Anyway, I'm really keen on one but I have to have a good think about whether I have the space (and decor!) to hang it, as I only live in a studio apartment.

Could you tell me more about how they are shipped, and a ballpark cost to Sydney? It's a long and brutal journey to our shores.

If this media is not available in your territory, install BBCplayer, fire it up (it will automatically put you through a UK tor node), then open bbc.co.uk in Firefox.

I don't know where they stand with each other, but I'm definitely seeing more tension there than most people seem to be.

Pre 3 & Veer random rebooting issues on Telstra & Telcel by grusoin webos

[–]gruso[S] 0 points1 point ago

I thought it might be worth posting this here. At this stage it's looking like we need some inside help from Qualcomm (or ex-HP engineers) to save our phones from the scrap heap (or worse, Vodafone). If anyone out there has any information they can offer us, please check in to that thread (or here). Even if you're just a user experiencing the rebooting issues. All data is good.

So much rage in those comments, lol.

When the safety car comes out, it needs to place itself in front of the 1st position car so that all the other cars queue up behind it in race order. Obviously no one is allowed to overtake under SC conditions. From what I can gather in those comments, when the SC went out in Perth, it was supposed to go out in front of race leader Lowndes but picked up the team's other car in error. The field queued up behind them, and Lowndes was stuck down the order.

I didn't see it unfold myself though (tuned in just after), so I'm not 100% sure on that.

Cool! Also works for 'f1'. I haven't found another category/sport that this works for.

Did the raspberry pi hype kill some of its momentum? by ilsecoloin raspberry_pi

[–]gruso 3 points4 points ago

But of course that model is basically vapourware now.

The Model A (aimed at schools) was never meant to come to market until the initial batch of Model Bs shipped.

Did the raspberry pi hype kill some of its momentum? by ilsecoloin raspberry_pi

[–]gruso 2 points3 points ago

Meh, hype is in the eye of the beholder. If you (not directed at any one person) got all revved up by the publicity then had your bubble burst by delays, it was only your buzz that got "killed", not the momentum of the project. If you really planned to develop/hack/learn on this device, why lose interest so easily? Because of a few delays? What's the plan now - will you now go and buy a more expensive device to develop/hack/learn on? Or kick off some projects on your PC?

My guess is, for the most part, no. Because if the hype was such a big factor, you probably weren't buying it to do that stuff. That ties in with the OP's comment about the trivial nature of RPi related posts in this subreddit. From what I've observed over time, posts about delays and similar consumer-oriented concerns have constantly drowned out the real dev stuff, both in volume and in upvotes. This is a subreddit dominated by consumers, not developers. Hence the hype comedown, hence the small number of project related posts in here.
