I do to some extent, but mushrooms kind of turn my brain to mush. It's hard to hold cohesive thoughts like you can on acid. That's why I prefer L.

True, but I'd argue that the anti-drug hysteria surrounding acid arose because its users were painted as godless communists.

You have to remember that LSD was legal throughout the early '60s. It wasn't until the hippie movement gained traction that it was made illegal. It's not necessarily about rising up against the status-quo, but people hated hippies a lot more than drugs in the '60s. The legislation was more about its association with them than about the drug. Nixon started the war on drugs because of the people who were doing those drugs.

It takes the average U.S. worker nearly a month to make what the average CEO earns in an hour by twolf1in news

Very true. I don't think the pay should be any different than it is, I just find the differences and factors that influence them interesting. Business school seems to be more about making connections to climb the latter than about what you actually learn, so while the classes aren't that difficult, making the most of the experience will still be a ton of work.

30 years ago, you could work your way through medical school. Loans weren't a big issue, so that wasn't a factor for older doctors. They're working less hours because they get paid less per hour. It's not worth it to work your ass off anymore.

As a society, I feel like we've somewhat conquered smoking. It's no longer socially acceptable to be a smoker in a lot of places. Sure plenty of people still do it, but it's not like the 50s where it was considered standard. Hopefully someday we get to this point as a society when it comes to diet and exercise.

What a great quote. That second part is basically how I describe LSD to people. It's not about seeing pretty images or feeling weird, it's about having all your preconceptions about yourself and the world stripped away and seeing everything with unfiltered eyes.

I think it's why L can be so therapeutic. You can look at your own life as an outsider.

I don't really feel like finding a source, but it's a pervasive problem in the medical community. Talk to any physician over 50, and they'll tell you they're making less than they were 20 years ago (not even counting inflation). Nonetheless, the price of medical school goes up every year.

Business school is an absolute joke compared to Medical School, and you can work a job while you're in business school. That's damn near impossible in medical school. Medical school is also more expensive, with many graduates coming out $200,000 in debt. Residents make about minimum wage for 3-7 years before they become an attending, during which time the CEO working his way up was making 6 figures. Average CEO pay is something like $10,000,000/year.

Well, yes. I believe CEOs should be paid more. Unfortunately, CEO pay is on the rise, while doctor pay has been stagnant or decreasing for the last 20 years.

This is a pretty accurate article. Everyone seems to think doctors and hospitals are out to get them, but I've seen a lot of the inner workings of a pretty major hospital in my shadowing experiences. Even sat in on a board meeting. They're not trying to figure out how to take your money. They're doing absolutely everything they can to be as efficient as possible so they don't go broke.

A typical brain surgeon will make around $500,000/year. The average CEO makes a lot more, and they didn't have to go through medical school and residency.

Decriminalization is the removal of criminal penalties, but fines can still apply. Marijuana is decriminalized in California, but it is still illegal. To quote that article "This should be contrasted with legalization, which removes all or most legal detriments from a previously illegal act."

No one in the MMJ community lobbied against decriminalization. They lobbied against legalization. There's a significant difference.

Edit: Surprised this isn't common knowledge on this subreddit. Decriminalization is the removal of criminal penalties, so you can't get put on probation or sent to jail, but you can still be fined. Marijuana possession is decriminalized in California. You go to the same court room as parking tickets and noise violations.
