Birds in a Cage - Ben Harris - Art Machine Productions - Philadelphia, PA by brenda_walshin tattoos

Nice to see birds that aren't done in the same style as the birds (I wanna say starlings or something?) that everyone seems to have. Very nice!

From Occupy Frankfurt. The German police took off their helmets and marched with the protest clearing the way for them. by rusty_blumpkinin pics

[–]gregshortall 2 points3 points ago

In the case of Toronto G20 protests, cruisers were lit on fire by what some people believe were undercover officers in black bloc garb. For the folks watching TV news at home, that's all they need to see in order to turn against the protesters. It also helps to rationalize in the public's eye the billion dollars (yes, billion) spent on security over only three days.

I'm no expert but there is apparently at least anecdotal evidence that it happened in Toronto G20 and Seattle protests as well.

Since my daughter started daycare six weeks ago, I've been home with a nasty cold twice. by ctopherrunin daddit

[–]gregshortall 0 points1 point ago

The year my son went to daycare was by far the sickest of my life. Exercise and not getting as up close as usual seems to help. If I started feeling sick I would stay home to try and nip it in the bud before it took me out of commission. Good luck.

I just wish the artist had done a better job of explaining all that's wrong with the Harper government.

Have a job interview tomorrow and I'm starting to freak out a bit. by Lord_Rimbletonin self

[–]gregshortall 0 points1 point ago

Interviewers are people and all they want to know is - can this person do this job? And - will I want to work with them? Focus on those two things while being relaxed and honest and you will have a shot.

So did "red light district."

I don't know why, but this makes me sad. Perhaps because I wouldn't want anyone to be disapointed in how they expected others to feel for them, but didn't.

Good to know. Is it ludicrously expensive to drink at all bars/restaurants however?

I said the same thing to my friend who has three kids ad he said 'oh don't worry about it. I hated all my kids til they were two.'

It's not all roses and dreamy rainbows. In fact, I read you are programmed to react in a strong way instinctively to the sound of your children crying (other children crying won't have quite the same affect). Go easy on yourself, getting used to crying is a big part of faterhood and eventually, with some work, you'll be amazed at how little it fazes you.
