I would like to ban people from asking the question "What do you do for a living?"

It's a no-brainer, no-challenge way to interview someone, and is awkward for people who are unemployed, in a job they are not proud of, or who have complicated ways of making money that aren't easily summarized. Often times what someone does for a living has very little to do with who they are as a person, or where they want to be. If someone wants to talk about what they do, they'll do it without being prodded. Lastly, many people use it as a benchmark to decide someone's worth.

Better to stick with questions like: "What do you do for fun?" "Do you have any hobbies?" "What's your favorite book, movie, game etc.?"
