TROPHY CASE

Dan Harmon Poops: HEY, DID I MISS ANYTHING? by bbatsellin community

[–]gitarr 0 points1 point ago

Once again the suits at nbc and sony ruin a good thing and make a big mistake. They should be fired not the creative people who actually do the work and produce something of value.

I hope the cast rebells and kills the show instead of playing a part in this shameful act.

For me Community ended with season 3. It's a shame it didn't come to six seasons and a movie. I won't watch season 4, even if there is one now.

AskAustria: Crowdfunding and taxes in Vienna by ozlanderin Austria

[–]gitarr 3 points4 points ago

You calling our culture a "kafkaesque red tape culture" makes me wonder if you are a grown up to be honest.

Our system works very well (low unemployment + high living standards + great education). And if you find "red tapes" they are there for a reason.

Doing self employed or independent work is very easy, just look up the term "Neuer Selbstständiger". You only pay 10% Umsatzsteuer (instead of 20%) and Einkommensteuer only if you are above a certain threshold with your income.

A simple registration of your self employment will do for this. Best is to have a professional do that for you, most "Steuerberater" or "Treuhänder" companies do all that for you including your taxes and all the rest. They will gladly cut through all the tape you find for you.

One thing to be careful about is that some job sectors will require a "Gewerbeschein" (trade licence), like for example IT work. This is obviously meant for the protection of customers and they are easy to get if you fulfill the standards of course.

Right, Linus. Always format the text when writing, not reading. by LCDreadoutin geek

He was talking about git commit messages, not about other internet forums.

Your devices browser zooms in a way that lines are too short in that rotation format.

You posted an image not a direct link.

Torvalds post is about git commit messages, not about other internet forums, so your point is invalid.

[–]gitarr 0 points1 point ago

Doesn't matter. The company came up with the prices and offered the tickets, not the customers.

x-post from r/linux as this was posted there as well:

This was about git commit messages to the linux kernel. Rules exist for that, they are there for a reason and well established. Linus is absolutely right about this.

How the op here changed his browser window (rotation) in order to invalidate Torvalds point is funny, but that's a google+ thread shown in the image (not a direct link by the way as the post would probably be perfectly formated that way) and not a git commit message.

So, the op here is wrong, Linus still right.

As a European I agree. We are not offended by words on TV either. When someone is a moron he gets called one.

PyJamas project hijacked by rogue contributor by ssbrin Python

I feel like I just read a Facebook post of a thirteen year old and not an announcement of a mature software developer who leads a project. This guy clearly isn't up to the task.

When the hijacker stated that he “retired“ the mantainer it was clear that the project cannot be trusted anymore. This just screams instability and unprofessionalism.

In its case against 26 major record labels at BC Supreme Court in Canada, BitTorrent index isoHunt argues that not only do they pose no threat to the music industry, it’s the copyright industry itself that’s threatening the freedom of expression of millions on the Internet by maxwellhillin worldnews

Copying isn't stealing.

You cannot be a good author if you do not understand this very clear fact.

We are all against people stealing physical cds or dvd in stores. Sharing files online is not theft though.

Also, no losses from online sharing have ever been proven. It might just help your sales if people share your book and give it free promotion, all provided it is a good book of course.

I blame the people of /r/atheism

What a generalization.

/r/atheism is a very diverse subreddit, with all kinds of different people.

You cannot put them all in one pot, just like you cannot do the same with all religious people.

The internet attracts all kinds of people and you cannot blame a whole community for the actions of a few. Just deal with the offenders.

Well, if my above comment makes me an asshole in your mind, then so be it.

I'm still right on this though, and your comment, that does not even try to tackle any points I made, won't change that.

Also, I'll refrain from calling you names, I'm too old and too polite for that.
