I've just discovered that BCAAs are amazing at curbing my appetite at night, during my cut. Is this real? by sonapin Fitness

[–]giantasparagus 0 points1 point ago

Ignore the calorie count on the label. BCAAs are not a complete protein and therefore do not legally need to be counted towards protein or calories.

When are we finally going to fix our god awful labeling rules on supplements?

Can anybody explain to me the benefits of a beginner "starting out slow"? by [deleted]in Fitness

[–]giantasparagus 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, that is an entirely different sentiment than what you stated in your original post. Apparently ad hominem attacks and validation from anonymous internet users are your comfort zone, so heeding your own advice would not be contraindicated. Anyhoo, you and your leading rhetorical questions bore me.

I love split routines for lifting, but i also like full body routines, for those who like both, is there a middle ground? maybe monthly alternating? by anthony0123lolin Fitness

Dumbell bench press with one hand, chest fly with the other. Switch hands every set.

[–]giantasparagus 1 point2 points ago

See, you never said said anything about 4 or 5 sets in your original post as your definition of hardcore, so you really can't fault me for not knowing what you meant. And adding an extra set or two doesn't suddenly make a workout hardcore, it just makes it a little more strenuous. I thought by hardcore, you meant hardcore, not slightly more strenuous. If that was the case, my answer would have been different.

My answer is perfectly valid, and judging by your diction, you are indeed getting mad. (Or maybe you're a jolly, but profane person).

You may think my analogies are weak, but that's because they're not analogies, they're examples. I would tell you the difference, but it seems that your blood pressure rises with every instance of knowledge you receive, so for the sake of your fitness I'll refrain.

If you really can't figure out why beginners should start slow, especially in an activity likely to push physical limits, then as I stated before, there are bigger problems for you to resolve than can be solved by the internet.

I know there are a lot of big guys here, but do any of you have some gymnastics programmed into your workouts? by AlwaysConstantin weightroom

[–]giantasparagus 0 points1 point ago

I mess around with some back and front lever progressions when I get bored. I did a few skin the cats the other day just for funsies. I tell myself a planche would be a fun goal to work towards, but once I start working on it, fun isn't exactly the word that comes to mind.

I never figured out a good way to program them into my lifting routine, let me know if you do.

Sorry for giving you a correct, honest answer. Clearly you posted this not due to an inquisitive nature, but because you wanted someone to reflect an opinion that you had already formed. Now that someone has given you a reasonable, cogent response that isn't in agreement with your previously decided opinion you get mad. If this really offends you, then well, you have many more problems than can be solved by the internet.

And no thank you, I will not be clicking on your 4chan link. Good day.

edit: way to remove your link after I mentioned it in my reply.

The point is that you don't do something stupid and hurt yourself.

There's a reason you don't do triple backflips on your first day in gymnastics or climb mount everest on your first day of rock climbing.

You start out slow as a beginner so you learn where your limits are and intelligently work past them.

And yes, jumping into a hardcore routine can in fact cripple somebody, exercise related injuries send plenty of people to the hospital every year, many of those because people they don't know what they are doing.

If the reason you posted this is because you want to do a hardcore workout and the internet is telling you no, then go ahead and do your hardcore workout- it's your life; you don't need the internet to validate your exercise regimen.

Go to a fucking doctor. Even if you don't have medical insurance, you are young and this seems like the type of thing that will get worse over time. Go to a doctor, preferably a spine specialist and do what they tell you.

Would a glove that tracked your reps and sets be useful to you? by AltPerspectivein Fitness

[–]giantasparagus 0 points1 point ago

At face value it sounds silly, but I cannot tell you the number of times I was under a heavy bar and for the life of me could not remember if this was rep 4 or 5.

Also making it cheap enough that people would buy it would be difficult.

What are the downsides of protein powders? by Hero_bin Fitness

I've heard some of them can have high levels of heavy metals since protein powders are supplements and not food or drugs and therefore not regulated by the FDA.

Gym sued for "excessive noise" from crashing and clanging weights by foundingoin weightroom

[–]giantasparagus 1 point2 points ago

It's a fair lawsuit.

The gym owners really do need to install better flooring and soundproofing on the walls. They're in what looks like a residential/mixed use commercial area, not an area zoned for industrial purposes. Loud raucous noises infringe upon the nearby businesses and impose serious costs. Putting in appropriate flooring and soundproofing isn't that expensive.

Not if you do high bar, but don't bounce too hard out of the bottom, if you lose control it could spell injury.

Possibly the quickest, cheapest and most tasty way to absorb Protein: Tuna Egg Salad by e-muxin Fitness

[–]giantasparagus 1 point2 points ago

It's a joke, playing on the idea that people order egg white omelettes so the yolks have to go somewhere.

The actual answer is that people usually throw them away. Sometimes you can use them for baked goods when the recipes call for an extra yolk or two.

That's because the rhino is trying to turn into a unicorn. That will never happen and now matter how in shape he gets he will not be happy.

If it was a fat unicorn trying to become a skinny unicorn that would be a different story.

Are you female? girl pants have small front pockets, but if that's the case, stick it in your purse.

Now that I think about it, the only thing I have in my pockets is my phone and ID, and the rest goes in my backpack. I suppose people who aren't college students don't do that.

How to beat cravings and keep on diet by [deleted]in Fitness

[–]giantasparagus 0 points1 point ago

One thing you could do is just eat smaller servings. If you have a craving for soda, then just pour an ounce or two into a glass and drink it slowly to satisfy your craving and you'll get a fraction of the calories. Same with candy bars, keep the bite size kind around.

Of course you still need the will power to not go back and drink the whole can, but a sip or two will help curb the craving.

How do you incorporate more vegetables into your diet? by intermerdain Fitness

[–]giantasparagus 1 point2 points ago

Dude just get some random veggies like carrots, celery, and bell peppers(cut into slices) and dip them in salsa for a quick healthy snack.

You can also make your own bean dip by throwing a can of black beans in the blender with salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
