You try keeping your sphincter closed while getting tickled.

Holy crap, their widdle backpacks are so cute. I was deadset on my engineer being norn for the longest time, but now I'm having second thoughts.

What is the one thing you want to see become reality before you die? by Battle4Seattlein AskReddit

[–]gandlethorpe 0 points1 point ago

Kind of boring, but the ability to properly dispose of plastic waste and other non-biodegradable manmade materials. To be even more broad, if consumer waste was virtually nonexistent.

I tried out the Guardian during the stress test. It's definitely worth a look, even if it's not your style. by BrainKatanain Guildwars2

[–]gandlethorpe 1 point2 points ago

Honestly, on paper, guardian is one of the least interesting professions to me, especially when you compare its mechanic to the elementalist (my main). Seeing them in action, though, I can't wait to try one next BWE!

Wouldn't a stress test on a weekend make more sense?

I decided to compare the GW1 and GW2 map, and they fit quite nicely by Silverdiscin Guildwars2

Man, this makes me hungry to see what Cantha and Elona look like now. Cantha especially, since the effects of the Jade Wind started to wear off after Factions. When you think about it, Cantha is really just two peninsulas with a huge sea in the middle.

Following NPCs behind the scene in a dynamic event by abrahamsenin Guildwars2

[–]gandlethorpe 12 points13 points ago

Even vampires love Guild Wars 2.

I love the attention to detail. And now I know why that one Norn daycare center got attacked by a bear zergrush. Next BWE, I'll try to listen to NPC chatter more closely.

Which class did you "main" in BWE1, and why? Which class do you plan on maining in BWE2, and why? by AZRuggerin Guildwars2

[–]gandlethorpe 0 points1 point ago

Since GW1, my main was always elementalist. I always planned on maining an elementalist in GW2, as a descendant of my GW1 character. When the BWE came around, I was not disappointed, and played about 20 hours on just my ele. Next BWE, I'll probably take a break from ele to save some for release.

At first, thief ranked low on my anticipated professions, but it was the second most appealing to me out of the four other professions I test-drove. I only got to level 6, but I had a blast even while playing the same starting zone as my ele, so I'll try to get a higher level one next beta.

Does the cost to refund traits discourage players from changing weapons/skills? by gandlethorpein Guildwars2

[–]gandlethorpe[S] 0 points1 point ago

Waypoint travel is much more reasonably priced. The highest I saw (DR to Hoelbrak) was no more than 2 silver. According to the wiki, refunding costs 71 bronze per trait point. So by the time you're level 13, a refund costs more than going from DR to Hoelbrak instantly.

Also, there's an alternative to waypoint travel (walking/Asura gates), but no alternative to refunding traits.

[–]gandlethorpe[S] 1 point2 points ago

I never said that refunds should be less costly so that people could min/max more easily in PvE. For me, it's more of an "ooh, that trait seems cool, I wanna try it" kind of thing. When you get your first 5 traits, you'd have to refund 4 times just to try each minor trait.

Even if you ignore that the Mists give you max level stats, it still forces people who want to experiment in PvE to disrupt their play. What if they want to keep doing hearts and dynamic events?

That sounds kind of "PvP-elitist". What about dungeons?

In the Mists, aren't you treated as a max level character? What if you want to know if it'll be effective at your true PvE level?

Melee vs. Ranged - Official Response from Jon Peters by Joltedin Guildwars2

[–]gandlethorpe 4 points5 points ago

I think adding the ability to parry as long as you're wielding a melee weapon would solve two problems: melee/range imbalance, and the fact that endurance has only one use.

For less of an endurance cost than dodging, a player wielding a main hand/two-handed melee weapon can block one attack and counter with an instant version of their slot 1 skill (if it's a chain, then the final skill). That would allow melee survivability to be buffed across the board without tampering with skills.

Parrying would be the same button as (non-double tap) dodge but with no direction held. It (the "parrying window") lasts the same time as a roll, but using a skill would cancel it early. "Melee" weapons that are used at range (mesmer greatsword, ranger/necro axe) wouldn't be able to parry, except possibly elementalist daggers.

I have 1 beta key to give away! by Eande1in Guildwars2

[–]gandlethorpe 1 point2 points ago

I prepurchased the CE at GameStop yesterday, but their computers said their codes were "exhausted". The clerk said today, they'll have new codes, but only guaranteeing the 1-day head start. I guess I'll try my chances here.

If by some stroke of luck I do win OP's key, and the code GameStop gives me allows BWE access, I'll host my own giveaway.

Well, I wanted the CE, so no digital for me.

I prepurchased in-store, and their computers said they were out of codes. The guy said they'd have codes tomorrow, but only ones that guarantee the 1-day headstart. What can I do? Are chances good the code they give me will allow BWE access?

I don't really get the popularity of The Smiths/Morrissey. It's all just kind of dull to me.

Eric Hutchinson - Moving Up Living Down (full album) [pop, rock, folk, soul] by gandlethorpein listentothis

[–]gandlethorpe[S] 0 points1 point ago

Despite being under a major label, I feel like Eric Hutchinson is rather obscure for a pop singer, especially considering how talented he is.

His album comes out today, April 17. Warner Bros. has been kind enough to put his entire album in this video. At the very least, it's almost impossible for this music to make you not feel happy inside.

Michael Jackson doing vocal exercises. by johkonutin singing

This is very encouraging to hear one of the greatest singers in recent times doing the same exercises that my teacher's giving me. It also gives me more faith her methods, not that I haven't been seeing improvements.
