My boss made homemade soft pretzels, and the secretary made some amazing chicken chili. We had bacon fudge too. I already feel lucky to love the job I have; stuff like this just takes it over the top.

This is very interesting. Programming languages are all fairly similar in that they face the same constraints and meet those constraints in very similar albeit minutely different ways. If anything you could compare learning programming languages to learning the spoken love languages e.g. French, Italian, and Spanish because they are similar. Other than that, spoken languages - even the love languages - are much more complex than programming languages.

Most newer machines have a recovery partition utility thingamajig <-- that word didn't trip the spell check alarm? Anyway, aside from that I know of nothing. If she only uses the machine to surf the net you could download/install Ubuntu for free - just a thought.

Me too. It went better than expected, but I would not advise anything more than six in a sitting - and I wouldn't suggest it to anyone for the taste (IMO a more metallic PBR) - but it is really ~~nice~~ convenient if you are a broke student, or a broke anything.

<sarcasm> I'd be willing to do an AMA about surviving more than six of them.</sarcasm>

I'm genuinely curious about this - not trying to start a language war or anything. I've heard that the regular virtual machine is slower than C++ and C, but that the difference is negligible until you're trying something really intensive. It also goes without saying that having coded in all three, I find Java the most friendly/readable, but I have also heard that with the JIT compiler there is very little difference at all - so is that the general consensus?

Edit: Also, nice work on the interpreter OP!

How about shopping centers in general. I like to push my cart as if i were driving a car, using common sense rules from driving where they seem to naturally apply.

Always push on the right side of the aisle
When exiting an aisle, pushers in the outer aisle have right of way
Don't come to a complete stop in a main aisle EVER. If you must get something from the side of the aisle, push your cart out of the way.
when walking out of the grocery store while pushing your cart, the doorway is not the ideal place to stop and stand and root around your purse for your sunglasses or your keys - riloh

Edit: Maybe not as relevant but still a pet peeve, if you aren't buying tobacco products and you have more than 20 items SWEET DIETING MOTHER OF PASSION FRUIT CHRIST! DONT GO IN THE DAMN 20 ITEM OR LESS TOBACCO CHECKOUT LINE!
