Weezer - Say It Ain't So by EnduringAtlasin Music

[–]filldo 1 point2 points ago

Maladroit, really? I only listened to it once but I was obsessed with something else at the time so I didn't get into it. I'll have to give out another listen. I like done of the newer stuff but pinkerton and blue album were so fucking good. I haven't listened to em in a while so I wil have to change that right now.

This tutorial helped me. If you go larger you will need bracing, I learned this the hard way haha

Look who I met as I was walking back from work! by zeninjain movies

I totally agree, started watching on netflix after introducing my brother to firefly. Definitely takes a few episodes to pick up but man it was good. Great characters and really interesting plot line. And holy shit he is freaking awesome in it!

All my stuff (like this) keeps getting downvoted to or below 0. What am I doing wrong? [Xpost from r/art] by bradburbin ArtCrit

I don't down vote deviantart posts automatically, but I browse reddit on my phone and deviantart is not phone friendly so 90% of the time I just press back a soon as I realize where its going. Some people are more harsh. The site sucks for mobile users and as more of us browse from our phones you may lose more of your audience.

When did r/art become r/idap? by Varoin Art

[–]filldo 1 point2 points ago

I understand and agree. I also realized I need to start visiting some other subs. I trend to stay in r/art all the time.

[–]filldo 1 point2 points ago

You make a good point. For someone like me who thinks this could be a good way to get exposure for my art I figured you should go for the largest group instead of the smaller subs. But maybe its better to try the subs and have others promote you... I don't see a lot of abstract work there, it seems like its geared towards drawing and illustration whereas I feel this sub is more accepting of abstract work. Maybe I just need to get more involved in some of the other subs.

There was some good discussion in those threads and I hoped something would change as a result. Seems like we got two or three days before we devolved back to the usual pattern.

I'm gonna cease work on my, "I was molested by wolves" series... Its true what they say, everything has been done.

I think we should be able to post our own work. Reddit is about sharing. There is a difference between karma whoring and self promotion. This can be a great place for artists to gain exposure and we should be excited to find and promote undiscovered talent.

The "my first sketch/painting/whatever" really has gotten out of control. It would be cool of we could elevate the level of art and discussion being posted here. Ironically enough there are people who don't want that as they feel its pretentious or elitist... I just wanna see more awesome art, talk about it and get inspired for my own work.

Yeah, maybe a simple rule can be if you are not going to submit the work to a gallery, put it in r/idap. I tend to just ignore those posts, but maybe I should down vote...

To add to this point, say something worth saying. "Hi guys" is not exactly profound or artistic and really cheapens your effort.

This is brilliant. Would be really interesting to see in natural light where the position of the sun changes, changing the script, warping it. Love the concept.

Something surreal I painted for fun, would love to know what you think! :) by Miles___in Art

I am curious as to why the OP won't come out and admit its digital. Many have asked him but he won't answer. I think that is a little strange and perhaps why some think he's being deceptive. The fact is, real paintings get far more respect than digital which is something I dont like but its just the world we live in. he seems to understand this as well do avoid admitting its digital for the sake of maintaining some mystery and garnering more attention. I still think its a cool image but its weird he won't just come out and answer people.

I painted a picture of a friend of mine. First time really doing a portrait. Thoughts? by Silosationalin Art

[–]filldo 1 point2 points ago

Good start. Read up on color theory and check out some classic portraits like rembrandt to see how they use greens and blues to create depth and dimension. You are painting color for color which is not right as colors have relationships and change in relation to other colors. For example, using greens will contrast the red and make it pop out or receed, depending on its usage.

I've been thinking of doing a children's book myself and illustrating. Your work is fantastic! You are one badass dad! Thanks for sharing!! I hope you keep us updated on your progress.

Who was the guy who shit in cans and sealed it up to sell as a commentary on collectors buying any piece of shit and claiming it as art? Anyways, you are not alone and you cracked me up.

My 18 year-old boyfriend is an incredible artist and not many people know, so hopefully reddit loves his pieces as much as I do. by grazedkneesin Art

[–]filldo 2 points3 points ago

I can't believe how irritated I am by some of these comments. (renaissance as the pinnacle of art?!) Your boyfriend has a pretty good grasp on color relationships. Compositions are good albeit simple but what I really appreciate is how he is already developing a unique style and a voice of his own. Tell him to keep up the good work, go to an art school and he will only get better. I see the beginning of a great artist here. Thanks for sharing.

[Request] Hobo Assassin! by tromadzin Art

[–]filldo 1 point2 points ago

You are so negative. The whole starving artist thing came from all the artists who love to create for free! Personally I try to fill all these "I can't pay you but here is a week's worth of work" requests. Honestly I hate being compensated for my talents. I much prefer people exploit me cause I love to paint. My only goal in life of to be like Van Gogh, totally unappreciated until after my death. Also I think I could get into that whole ear removal thing.

The Simpsons at 500: your top 10 episodes -- The guardian asked for your favourite Simpsons episode. Surprisingly the top 10 were made during the first decade of the show by davidreiss666in entertainment

How on earth did they not get the hockey episode on that list?! Almost every line by Homer is pure gold. I would post quotes but I might as well post the entire script as every line is brilliant. Hank scorpio is great and all but does not touch the hockey episode. Or marge on the lam? Has the whole world gone topsy turvy? I'm drunk and confused... Remember when the simpsons was amazing.... God I feel old... And drunk... So drunk...
