See if there are any medical schools in your state or nearby. From what I know, they have discounted rates, but from what I read they shouldn't even need to do too much, leaving you with a minimal bill. Maybe you can barter with them to do it for free even.

Coming from an pro-life family, I absolutely know the people in the movement are not bad people, but it doesn't make me want to associate with them either. I usually take the alternate route, too.

Smoking is an addiction. It's not as easy as "oh, I think I'll quit today," as you obviously know. What you did isn't the end of the world and you are far from being a horrible person. Even better yet, you told her the truth about it when many would have kept it a secret for longer if possible.

Now's the time to be proactive. I'm sure you've already tried to quit many, many times, but keep trying. Ask her for support. Ask your little one for support. What you did sucks, but you also did the right thing too. Quit being so hard on yourself!

I am currently in the midst of a similar situation. You need to get away from your mom. It sounds harsh, but you need to stop supporting her bad habits.

You should talk to an academic advisor about the situation. I had to drop my semester, but am returning once I'm stable and able to be in school. Plan on being enrolled the next semester if you do have to drop out and make a point of explaining that you need to finish school, but have to be stable enough to be in school.

Get your own apartment, and stand firm on not supporting your mother. If she gets into too much trouble, she will need extra help. While AA is a religious group, there are other alcoholic options.
